I ate a scrambled eat earlier, about 2 and half hours ago. I have had this pain in the middle of my chest and i have not been able to drink my water. When I drink it either comes back up or the pain gets worse. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks Jeff

Jim,

I was not was not eating solids at where you are at now, but I have had an episode of stuck food when I got to solids 6 weeks out.  It was turkey and it sucked.  There was nothing I could do but ride it out.  It lasted for about 6 hours.  You may want to call your surgeon's help line if you have one.  I finally was able to get it all out and all was good.  I really feel for you man!  Drinking made it much worse for me!

Jeff...

eggs are tricky...the only thing to do is watch out for the next time...

I remember going through Willowbrook Mall, and thye had chicken on a tooth pick...and I thought..well I can do this little bit of protein...well I was running my big mouth..and it got stuck///

need less to say , it ended with me on my knees in the mens rooms...go figure...

hope this made you smile...

for stuck protein I chew some papaya enzyme tablets. they are available at GNC.  the enzyme breaks down protein and can help move things along. i keep a bottle at work, in the car, and at home on the dining room table.

I've had a hard time with scrambled eggs and meat. When mine get stuck, it's immediate and comes right back up. Try drinking warm liquid such as a cup of tea. It also helps to move around. Maybe go for a walk. It sucks, like I said, I've had it several times, but it just comes back up and I'm fine.

One other thing with eggs is that they tend to be better when they're soft boiled or poached.

I do not eat eggs and I am still on pureed food, however, I have gotten grits and oatmeal stuck.  I had to ride it out, but I am going to get some of those enzyme papaya thingys and try them!  Good luck my dear!

They have always told me that room temperature pineapple juice and walking is good for stuck food.  I know the walking helps, but have not tried the pineapple juice.  Good luck and I know that feeling sucks!

Jeff, you should probably talk to one of the nurses at your center.  I saw another post from you the other day about shrimp getting stuck, and now a scrambled egg.  Strictures are one of the most common side-effects of our surgery and you might just want to keep them alerted to what is happening, should they need to check that out.  (Another thing, although gross to talk about, I saw you also mentioned you've had a cold.  If you have been having a lot of drainage (especially thick), that could also be sitting around in your pouch and causing interference with your food...and causing things to not pass through as easily.)
