So this Christmas  and Hanukkah my family has decided to make "homemade" gifts.  A lot of people are tight on money with this "wonderful" economy.  I think it is a great idea, BUT, I am sooooo not crafty.  While my mother can make soap, decopage (sp), and all sorts of other **** I can make nothing.  I did learn, online, how to make hot sauce which I will do for my brother.  He is nuts over strange sauces.  I have no clue what to make for my mother!  I need help!!  She does not have hobbies and she has everything you could ever want.  Any advise would be a great help!

I'm actually wanting to learn how to make homemade candles. I love the idea of homemade gifts. A gift from the heart is the best gift of all... I wish I could help you more, but I don't have a crafty bone in my body. Good luck..

Ok so last year I made a drink called cherry bombs for all our friends.  We had a big jar at our party and then handed out the small take homes.  I used the smallest jelly jar, and made cute lables that said merry christmas from Tori and Barb, and put ribbon around them.  Here is the recipie.

1 Bottle 100 Proof Vodka
1 large jar Marichino Cherries with juice

Pour together and let marinate for a week.

We actually added a bottle of everclear to it.  I dont recommend that, it makes the alcohol taste too strong.   When it marinates, all you taste is the cherry flavor when you do a shot.  The drink has a red tint to it and the cherries will kick your butt.   A small jar holds 4 shots and 4 cherries.  It was a big hit.

Alternatively we make our own candles.  So thats always fun.  Michaels craft stores sell the basic supplies.

What they are doing this year at my daughters school is making cookie recipes and soup recipes in a jar.
So for example for the cookie recipe, you would fill the jar with all the dry ingredients needed to bake a batch of cookies, with instructions on what they need to add.

The soup recipes generally don't need anything added excpe****er and chopped meat(if desired).

Here's a website to give you all the ideas:

How about a Love Jar?
For each person you give a Love Jar to, you put a hand written note inside telling them how much you love them and how much they mean to you. Then you decorate the jar any way you want. Then any time your friends and family are feeling a bit depressed and unloved, they can open their Love Jar and read your note. It's sure to bring a smile to their faces knowing you love and care about them....
