I have gotten a really bad cold and was wondering what was good to take. I would usually take musinex but they are really large and the say not to break or chew. I am almost 2 weeks out. Thanks!

Mucinex = Guafenesin in sustain release tablets

Robitussin or Tussin = Guafenesin in a liquid. You just have to take it more often.

Guafenesin is the expectorant (make mucus liquid so you can cough it up/blow it out). The DM is dextromethorthan, the cough suppressant. So you can just get plain Tussin generic if the expectorant is all you need.

Hope you feel better soon!!!

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. I can say that I worked in Social services for a few years part time and did some nursing duties. I cant say what medication to take.. But, I can say that a good NATURAL treatment for any cold that includes chest and sinus congestion is water. Other then just keeping you hydrated it will help knock out the congestion. I would also assume that you could use a topical inhalant such as Vic's or a vaporizer should help. As far as the aches and pains I really cant say what would help.. But, just about anything you get in PILL form is available in LIQUID even prescriptions. But, honestly I would consult your doctor.. Call in the AM.. There are probably medications you should stay away from I think I remember IBUPROFEN as being one but Im not sure.

Anyway hope you feel better soon.

Ever since surgery, I have used TheraFlu thin strips for colds. They dissolve in your mouth, so you won't have any of the concerns you might with pills so early out. They taste okay, and they're reasonably effective. There's both a day time and a night time variety.

Feel better!

I don't know if you've got high blood pressure, but if you do, don't forget to take that into consideration. I do and made the mistake of taking over the counter drugs. I ended up at the dr anyway and even though I had taken my blood pressure meds, I was back at my original pressure, which was really close to stroke level. Best bet is ask your doctor. Hope you feel better munchkin!

I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
