need some help being brave please

apparently i'm not going to the halloween party in nashvegas like i'd planned because i can't sleep on their floor, can't afford a hotel room and can't drive all the way back home in the middle of the night with all the drunks about. i contacted my friend ashley and asked if she and her husband might want to go to a gay bar with me on the first and he isn't up for it because it's the alabama homecoming game and he's going with her father and doesn't trust the two of us to go to a gay bar alone (i can't imagine why not though... )

so, i have a "costume" and nowhere to go. and i really really REALLY want to go out this weekend so i need help being brave so that i can go out all by myself and can actually have a good time. any thoughts? words of wisdom? anything like that? please help me. because seriously, i really just don't. like. people. they frighten me and make me extremely shy and nervous.

maybe you can find some strength in the costume, since you can be an alterego instead of yourself.

that's what i'm hoping. but there's nothing but "breeders" here and i'd have to travel about 3 hours to go anywhere that's even remotely "gay-friendly" so idk... i'm just really conflicted right now about the entire situation.

are there any women's groups nearby that are planning a social? if i were in a sea of heterosexism, i'd probably look for some kindred spirits in the feminist community. of course, they may be reluctant to gather, too.

If you are not looking to meet someone but just to have fun what's wrong with breeders? I used to go to the gay club all the time and had a blast. Granted I went with friends and not alone. That would make a difference to me. If the hubby afraid you will "turn" her or something? Or would he be jealous that he wouldn't be there. You know men and their fantasies.

well, the thing with the "breeders" is that well, they want to... breed. (and i'm SO not up for that at the moment!)

and as far as ashley goes... there's a LOOOONG story there. basically she was my "first" (in a 3-way with him) and it continued from there with just me and her and he got jealous, thinking he was losing his wife to me (which was SO not the case!) so yeah, jealous that i might "turn" her or whatever

I say go out!! I have been into challenging myself this year. I had to go to Fresno for work and to pick up my son. So I had a night to myself. I went out to a gay bar all alone and did karaoke. I had a BLAST so much fun I ended up heading to an Indian Casino to play a little, I was scared to death, but so happy I did it!
