I'm a little nervous, but I know everything will be ok. I'm always scared to "go under". I'm always afraid I won't wake up, but I always do..lol

If anyone here has had the same surgery, can you tell me what to expect after I come home?

Thankies,
Lisa

My gallbladder ultra-sound is on Wednesday, so we'll see what it shows. If it does have to come out, my doctor will take it out when I have my sugery in two weeks.

Since I share your anxiety about anesthesia (most people do), I can't really be of much help there, either.  I just know that for the time we will be under, our care and safety we will be the primary concern of a team of highly trained and experienced professionals. I believe everything will be okay.

I hope you have an uneventful surgery tomorrow, and that your healing is quick and comfortable.  Hang in there, Lisa -- you'll be in my thoughts.

Hi Lisa,

I haven't had mine out yet...I have my HIDA scan next Monday to prove to the dr that mine is about to kill me! LOL

You will do great!  I am trying to hold off until Jan to have mine out...don't know if I can make it until then or not.  I hate to reach my insurance deductible in Nov or Dec and then have to start over in Jan (I'm cheap! LOL)

Let us know how it goes!

(Going back to lurking now...LOL)

Thank you Kimberly. I wish you the best with your surgery too. Hopefully you can hold out till January. Those insurance deductibles can be quite pricey... Good Luck Hon!

Like most surgeries, day one, take your meds, crawl into bed. Get up to 'void' and walk and drink. Repeat. Gets better daily. By day 3 I felt pretty good to be up and around in the house - and I overdid it. By day 7, good to go but glad I wasn't working. By day 8, helped almost all day at a friends wedding - no problem.

It reminds you how much you use your abdominal muscles to get in and out of bed. My neck hurt because I was pushing up with it. Have a pillow to put your arm on if you sleep on your side, because you won't want to rest your right arm on your ribs.

Good luck and you will be fine! The nice part about the gallbladder is that at least they are taking out something that hurts so you're glad it's gone.

I had my gallbladder removed when I was 5 months pregnant.   I was in the hospital for a couple days to monitor the baby, but when I went home I never even took a pain pill.  BUT I have a really high pain tolerance, due to passing kidney stones all the dang time.  I was sore, but not enough to medicate.   Laproscopic surgery is  always gassy too.   But it was pretty much a breeze for me.  My dad had it and his went really easy too.  You will be fine!
