How long before you were on pureed food after surgery?  I have to wait two weeks and I am getting REAL hungry today!

Every surgeon has a different protocol.  For instance, I am not required to lose weight (although it's encouraged) nor do a liquid diet or bowel prep prior to surgery.  Also, I won't have to do a barium swallow before being discharged.

However, I will be on pureed food upon leaving the hospital, and will be on it for a MONTH before making the switch to soft foods!

For me it was 20 long days!  10 days clear liquids, then 10 days full liquids, then pureed and soft foods for 10 days.
Probably every surgeon is different.
Hang in there!

Oh boy..I do not feel so bad.  It was one day clear at the hosp., two weeks full liquid then to pureed next Tuesday.  I thought this was the longest wait in the world!  I won't ***** anymore.

I was on clear liquids for a week post-op, then full liquids for 2 weeks before pureed food.
Hang in there, you'll be eating before you know it.

I was on clear liquids while I was in the hospital then when I was discharged, i was on full liquids for two weeks and then by week 3 I was on pureed food.  I was on pureed food for a month before I could switch to regular food......so basically the first 7 weeks you're on mushy or liquids then when week 8 comes around you can start regular food but boy is that a rude awakening LOL

I am guessing everyone is different.  I was on clear for two weeks, and soft for two weeks.  I will tell you that i wanted NO part of food, and still don't for that matter.  I am on my 2nd week of "soft" foods and going to regular next week.
You will find out quickly what you can and can not tolerate.  Right now my biggest issue is finding out that foods do not taste like they used to and my mind is thinking differently about them.
Losing weight and being healthy is more satifying that any food at this point! :) Hang in there!!

onward and upward!!
