Newbie Needs Insurance Advice

Hello all!

I'm new to OH and I just got all of my testing and whatnot done. I swear I never wanna do another sleep study.

Anyway, I called my insurance company today (United Health Care) and they said that it was actually another insurance company that handles bariatric surgeries. So I called them and they said they'd be back to me in 5 business days with an update.

This whole waiting thing is driving me insane. I'm trying to go ahead and get ready for things - get used to a more liquid diet, taking all the vitamins, exercising, drinking lots of water, etc. Does anyone have any good advice for getting through this period? Or does anyone have UHC and have any words of wisdom for dealing with them? I'm kind of an insurance dummy.

Thanks kids!!

I don't miss those days. I was calling Aetna at least once a week. I figured they would approve just to shut me up. Good luck during this time.

Waiting was the worst, but so worth it.  I started my journey in January 08.  I had to stop smoking before my doctor would touch me which was so well worth it.  I finally got my date for September and had to pu**** back yet another month due to my mother having knee replacement.  Hang in there...it is worth any amount of time to wait....what is 3 months-1 year out of an entire life??  Oh, I have United Healthcare and that part was fast...they did not refer me to any other section.  They only have 30 days to respond once submitted by your doctor.  My doc is what took a while.
