1st day of pre-op diet

Today I started my pre-op diet. I did a shake for bfast and morning snack, lunch was 2 1/2 cup salad with 5 oz of chicken and 2 TBLS of ff salad dressing and dinner was 1/2 cup of steamed veggies and 2 cups salad, I still have one shake to go, but I have been starving.

It has been a hard day, a friend of mine at work died yesterday. He was 39. the latest I heard they seem to think he killed himself. He was gay and is Mormon. He had never told his family but from what a friend said they had found out and it was not very pretty. It really has blown me away. He was the last person that any one would have ever thought would have done this. I kept looking for him to walk by my office all day.

any other time I would have been stuffing my face, but I have stuck to this diet, only 10 days then I go to liquids for the 2 days before surgery.

How very sad about your friend -- 39 is far too young.  My sincere condolences to you...

So many of us have learned to comfort ourselves with food at difficult times like this, and it becomes a knee-jerk reaction to reach out for a plate of brownies instead of reaching out for support from others.  I give you a lot of credit for being self-aware and working to break that self-destructive pattern.

Take care, and good luck with your pre-op diet!

I am so sorry for your loss.

But, congrats on taking care of yourself by sticking to your pre-op diet.  It will make your surgery so much safer for you and easier on your surgeon.

Good luck with the diet. Sorry to hear about your friend. I can imagine it was ugly if his family found out. Not gonna get on the narrow-mindedness soapbox.

OH MAN..
I"m really SOrry to hear about your cowerker..
we all go through trials like this.. and by these trials we realize how Imortant life is to us...
i know that i'd have wondered if i could have done anything to prevent this type of thing..
but you realize that you could not have...
but this DOES bring up a good point.. this is first hand experiance that you may realize.. you have to change the way you think about dealing with stress.. after the surgery. you wont be able to USE food anymore..   so what will you do? how will you relieve your stress? I'm finding more and more that ANGER MUSIC, Working out, and doing other things helps...
You CAN DO THIS.. the Benefits outweigh the stress...
if you need to chat.. or just want to talk.. let me know..

Brightest blessings! one day i'll be a muscle Bear!
