New Goals
I had an amazing weekend. Living in beautiful Northern California, you would be amazed how often things right in our own backyard so to speak never get appreciated. I was born here, yet had never been inside a national park thirty miles away. This weekend i not only went in, but hiked a moderate dificulty hike to Echo Lake. 4.4 miles, uphill both ways, seriously! It took us about three hours in and out, and wow what a great time was had! I am determined to hike to the top of Lassen before the snow hits. It an amazing volcano that is active. I bought a field guide to all the over 115 miles of hiking trails and am going to make this my new goal.
On a side note, i had my psych evaluation today for surgery, and the doc told me no one ever had come in and told him they just hiked the mountains the weekend before. LOL. That made me feel good. He said his concern was that I would be too active after surgery. I just want to be in as good of shape as I can before the surgery so I dont lose too much muscle. One support group left and then I am ready to meet the surgeon and get a date! Whooo Hoooo!

Oh you lucky duck! I remember that area from childhood trips. Beautiful. And what a fun personal challenge!
