Hey Ya'll,
Sort of a newbie here, and sooo glad I found you all!
I am only 2 weeks out of surgery and starting to get back to my old, "OLD" self.. LOL, you know, the one from many yrs ago when I was sooo active that I didnt know what was on TV.
There is one problem I was hoping to get some help with. Since coming home from the hospital, I DONT SLEEP!!!  I go to bed, freezing, sleep for about 1- 1 1/2 hours and then I am up with night sweats and completely WIDE AWAKE! I feel like I am going to lsoe my mind! I desparately need to sleep!!
I have fibromyalgia so I use to take some meds to sleep, but after surgery my surgeon told me not to take them.
Any sugggestions?

When I can't sleep I take Melatonin, natural substance that your body makes, I just add to it and BAM --- out like a light and no groggy girl in the morning.

Are you still having night sweats, chills etc. If so PLEASE call your surgeon's office. I don't think that is normal. And I'm a nurse.

Oh, and it stuck my reply in the middle of the thread, which is NOT were I asked for it to be.

I had and still have the same exact problem. Insomnia and freezing all the time. So I go to bed in sweats and a sweatshirt and wake up drenched in sweat.

My doctor has prescriped me Trazedone (sp?) it seems to be working most of the time... And it's non habit forming. I also start my going to bed ritual with a cup of sleepy time tea to help relax me a little.
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!

I do have issues with my body thermostat when I'm sleeping but it's not enough to wake me up.  When I go to bed, I'm super cold (I have the air conditioner on with the fan blowing direclty on me.  When I wake up of a morning, I'm totally roasting!!!!  I actually have issues in which when my brain wakes up and I'm aware of my surroundings but I can't seem to make my eyes open LOL

Welcome!  I went through the same thing.  So if I woke up I got up went into the other room and read, then would go back to sleep.  For me it took me a few months.  Some people are lucky and some of us are slow.  Good luck to you!~Ann~

Thanks Ann,
I have been making myself get up and do something, but hard to find too many things to do in the middle of the night!! LOL (well, besides THAT)
Thanks for answering, at least I know I am not alone, and somewhat "normal"!!
And, thank you for the welcome!!

Sweeny,

I did not have that problem with this surgery. I did a few years back when I had a coronary triple bypass. I would wake up after 3 or 4 hours. I found the best thing to do was get up and do something productive. I actually had a computer project I wanted to do for years. I would get up and work 1 or 2 hours on it and then go back to bed. My sleeping habits were like that for about 2 weeks before they returned to normal. Not sure if that is your issue., but that was the solution that worked for me.

Welcome to our group!

Thanks for the info, but Benadryl is out as it keeps me UP.
Sorry about "stealing" your signature line, as you can see, I removed it. I thought it was cute and thought I could direct some of my lesbian WLS friends to this sight by having it available.. SORRY!!
