1K/day pre-op diet a biotch!
I've dropped about 10 to 12 pounds, but I've still partaken of some of my "last supper" choices. I haven't been crazy, but I could have been better. With all the stress of getting ready for the surgery and then having my friend have her riding accident, my stress has been at an all time high.
What concerns me is how I reacted to being under stress while constantly hungry. I'm more of a stress eater vs. when I'm sad or anything. I talked to eating disorder therapist and she wasn't as concerned simply because I didn't go crazy and gorge, I made good decisions and she understands that the 1000 calories per day is tough. I'm just worried as to how I'll react after surgery. I hope I become one of those people that crave exercise and will use that as a tool to deal with stress...make a healthier outlet for myself.
4 1/2 days left before I'm on the other side!

LOL, I usually eat something.
I gained 15 pounds when I first started nursing school due to stress eating when staying late studying.
Then, I worked this summer as a nurse's aid and I've lost 10 of those pounds, just being on my feet for 12 hours a day.
I think the other 5 will come off in time.
My maintenance program calls for 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. I save my snacks for late night. That's when I want to eat just to eat. That helps.

I think one of the things that most pre-op people don't realize is that even though you could stress eat, after surgery you can still stress eat but you won't be stress eating half as much as you did before as well as you'll be consciously thinking about WHAT you're eating. I'm almost 5 months out and I STILL don't have hunger pains. food is just food. I eat it to survive.....not because I want to.
Also, make sure you have a good therapist who knows what you're going through. When you really can't turn to food in times of stress....what are you going to do? Depression after WLS is real (I should know.....I'm one of the very small percentage of people who thought about suicide afterwards) and therapy or medication will help you through those times.
