Am I shooting myself in the foot for this?   I'm going to see my doctor today (2 months down)

I want to ask her if I can stop weigh****chers after the 11 week deal.  The scale they bring for WW at work only goes up to 300 and I need to travel to the next town to get weighed in at the corp office.

Im thinking of just buying my own 450lb scale and doing WW online just to say I'm still doing WW...

thoughts?

I would to see what your Doctor tells you. Maybe there is a way to stay on WW, but maybe weigh in at your Doctors office. Let us know what your doctor says..this is a tough one hon! Good Luck!

Are you condemned to a 6mo program? Because if it is a 6mo sentence, you are 1/3 of the way done with it. Maybe you could take your own scale to work on WW day? Look carefully at your policy. Maybe call your insurance (twice for two different opinions)

I never went to WW while on my 6 month medical supv. diet.  I went to my Dr once a month got my weight and took my food journal in with me .  Just becareful ww is not a medical supervised diet...Dont want u to go thur all of that and find out its not going to work.. Your Dr is the best bet...

after the 11 month deal

11 months or 6 months?   I'm SO confused!

If the however-many-month pre-op diet is a requirement for insurance coverage, I'd be careful about modifying the terms, given how far along you are, because ins. cos. are often very quick to raise the issue of non-compliance to avoid paying for the surgery.  I'm sure your doctor should have some useful advice!

I see WW at Work as more of a support tool. I joined again after my 6 month absence for surgery and recovery. My insurance would not consider WW as supervised diet. I had to have my PCP visit monthly with office visit notes that were very specific. He urged me to continue on WW since it teaches good habits. If you don't find the support of WW beneficial than don't continue. Some people find the intimidation of the weigh-in as a motivator. I sort of do but not very much. If you give it up, then find a replacement tool to motivate and guide you through your loss. It's too easy to forget about eating and living healthy when you try to lose weight from a book. One thing I have learned on these forums is that this is not only about dropping weight. It's about improving your health and lifestyle.  -- Tom

My insurance specifies that Curves, Jenny Craig, WW and other "wt loss programs preferably not associated with the bariatric surgeon's office" be used for my 6 mo supervised wl. They all are so different. At least mine states that my begining wt will be my qualifying wt for surgery - so they don't penalize you if you get to a BMI of 39 using some program and then make you regain.

Ok... gather 'round gospel choir style... can I get a verse of "Oh Happy Day"

I'm finally able to weigh myself at the doctors office!!!!  I haven't been able to do this in over 5 years.

I'm down to 446 and her scale is a 450 scale.

Ok so what I'm going to do is stay on WW but drop the at work program and just do the online program.

I have 7 visits scheduled with my PCP(just to clear things up)

I had my July, august one, and my sept one.. .I still have one for Oct Nov Dec and Jan  (just so you know I'm doing the WW under my physicians care)

That's wonderful!!!!!  congrats on being able to be weighed!  I know how that goes.  most of the hospitals and doctor's offices here only go up to 350.  I ended up getting my own scale that went up to 1000.  Just make sure that your PCP documents every visit and he writes everything down that you both talk about.  Those notes are going to be very detrimental to your success in getting approved for surgery.

I'm very happy for you!  HUGS!
