Pre-op Nerves

I just found your forum and am so excited to find it!  I have my Nurse Coordinator appointment today, and I am very nervous.  Funny I have been looking at doing this for years now, and when it finally starts happening, I am finding myself a little nauseus.  Such a huge change.   I am so active, play womens tackle football, chase my 9 year old, Kayak and still cant lose weight.  I am most nervous about not being able to do those things after surgury!  Have any of you lost the ability to do as much after surgury?

I was pretty active before surgery too, although I wasn't chasing a kid or playing football.  But I got around pretty well for my size (~400 pounds).  The initial recovery period right after surgery was challenging because I was tired and my body was adjusting to all the changes.  But I felt great by 2-3 months after my surgery, and now @ 3 years post-op, I physically feel better than I ever have.  For me, WLS opened more doors than it closed...

I found just the opposite. I have been able to do so many more things after surgery than I was able to do before.

Don't freak out when you are slowed down at first. It's major surgery, and it will take time to heal. After I healed, though, it became easier and easier to be active.

Ditto to it all!!

The first 2 months are little slow. But here I am 6 months out and I start at the gym at 5:30 am every morning, and go full force (including chasing a 12 year old all around the neighborhood) to fall EXHAUSTED into bed at 10.. But my motivation, stamina, and just basic energy level is a reall natural high... I can't wait for you to experience.

Good luck!
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
