Protein question to all post op members

Once I get approved for surgery, I want to start stocking up on protein powders, but I'm not sure which ones to get. I have one now that taste OK. During my supervised dieting, my doc wants me to have one scoop a day of protein powder made into a breakfast smoothie.

Which ones taste OK, and what is the price range? Thanks!

What i was told was to buy some different flavors and brands and give them a try. I am glad I did there are some flavors I thought would be really good and they were the pits. The single cans cost a little more but atleast you can try them and find what you like before you go for the large powder jugs.

go to www.vitalady.com and you can get samples of the protein powders that she sells for approx. $2 each. most of them (that i've tried so far anyway) are really good

I use/d Unjury Unflavored so I could add it to anything. I have a sweetner allergy so I am having a hard time finding powders to use. I did find some at the health food store that wasn't too bad in price for the jugs and it has a little sugar in them but not too much. The ones I have tried are yummy. They are by Nature's Plus and it's called Spiru-tein. They have a vegitarian line called Fruitein. I have heard from others that their taste have changed (I wouldn't know when it comes to protein powders but I can tell you it's true with food) so I wouldn't spend too much on stuff that you like now and then risk not liking it after tha fact. I would stock up on samples for after surgery and then go from there.

I wouldn't stock on any particular brand OR flavor.  Your vagus nerve, which plays a HUGE part in taste perception is damaged/severed during surgery.  EVERYTHING is gonna taste different for quite a while after surger.  Especially the sweet stuff.  I recommend a protein sample pack from vitalady or bariatriceating.  Good luck.

Everyone already suggested it.. vitalady.com

Before surgery I bought practically one of every kind. But it did help. I made a list of which ones I liked and which ones I didn't. Then after surgery my taste buds seemed to change daily. And the sweet stuff even though it didn't have sugar in it, made my tummy hurt so I was glad I didn't buy a big $70 jug and waste it..
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
