I need a little help for my son
My son came to me for some with a situation. His dad, my ex hubby, is getting re-married next week and my son is his best man. My son is required to give a toast at the reception. The problem is..my son doesn't approve of the wedding. He doesn't care for his dads Fiance.
I'm trying to help him with a toast, but we can't come up with anything. He doesn't want to lie to his dad and say he wishes them both a happy life together because he doesn't want them together...any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
My ex hubby and I are still friends and I do wish him the best, but I'm also afraid he is going to get hurt by his Fiance..I hope I'm wrong cause he is a good man!
Okay -- so here's a toast that'll work:
"When you love someone, your greatest joy is to see them happy. Please join me in wishing my father and the shrew the best of luck and continued happiness and health in the years to come."
1. The first sentence is simply a statement of fact -- he's not saying that the shrew made his father happy.
2. Second sentence is fairly generic. Wishing them luck" Sounds like they're going to need it!! No mention made of "their lives together" and, even if you intensly dislike someone, you can still wish them health & happiness -- ELSEWHERE! (He can leave that last word out!)
