I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row so bear with me...

1. I need to put together a will.  Nothing elaborate, i just want to have it in writing that my partner gets everything and I don't want ANYTHING fancy if I should die.  Heck, send me to med school for a year.   I think the whole funeral home drama/money gouging is insane.
I could google this but I figured I'd ask here first if anyone has a reliable source.  Don't want ot go through a lawyer, just want a notorized piece of paper.

2. I'm going to have the RNY. Trying to get an idea for budgeting reasons on what I'm goign to spend additional each month.  I'm thinking I'll be buying Protien Powder and special Vitamins?  Do you go through a jug each month?

3. Is cooking going to be a topic for fights post op?  I could care less.. I'll still cook the same and just make my stuff special, but just curious if this is going to be a bit of a burden

4.  Anyone have a copy of their physician letter?  I was thinking maybe it would be to my benefit if I showed up at my 6 month appt with a letter already typed out for my doctor to sign...

Im sure there are other things I haven't thought of yet... will post as I think of them.

4 more months to go...  amazed at how fast the past 2 months have flown... and I still haven't met with my surgeon yet lol.

The website for the SIU law school has all kinds of legal forms on it, but you might want to look at law school websites in Ohio also to see if the forms are different. One of the things I learned from my attorney is that we need to create a form for burial permission in order to let my partner make the decisions. This power is not included in the Power of Attorney for health care or for finances, nor can it be covered in the will. Otherwise, any bio family can move in and make the decisions. Wills have to be witnessed by three people not in the will and notarized and I would do that with the other forms too, in order to be covered. O think there is a book out on this topic from Nolo Press which also has forms in it. But each state is different slightly.  Be sure to get the POA for health care too for your partner. We carry ours whenever we travel anywhere.

As to your other questions, I'm a bandster and can't answer them. But good luck to  you and the time really does go quickly!

I can answer question #2.  I am embarrassed to say how much less money we are spending on food, so this will more than pay for your protein powders.

I was hoping the grocery bill would be lower, but I'm not the snacker in the family... I was thinking maybe we'd spend less.. but alas I dont buy cookies or chips.. My foods of choice are the veggies, tofu, yogurt, and granola.   Although I do like ice cream!  (but I buy the weigh****chers kind)

wait.. why the hell am I the fat one???

Don't bother with the physician letter. They have one on computer or the bariatric physician will email them one.

DON"T WORRY.  One step at a time, one day at a time.

lol I suffer from Chronic Anxiety.

The day of the surgery I'm probably going to need a Xanax drip the second I walk in.    it just seems like alot riding on coming out of surgery.

Once they hook you up to an IV in the pre-op waiting room, you usually DO get some premedication, typically IV Ativan (lorazepam) or Versed (midazolam); both are benzodiazepine sedatives like Xanax.

As far as #3, my SO Tony and I prepare foods that are WLS-friendly.  He's always been trim, though after 29+ years of eating with me, by the time I had my RNY, he'd managed to put of approx. 15 extra pounds.  It's been 9-1/2 months after my RNY, and he's lost 20 pounds!  He hasn't been this thin (in a good way) in more than 30 years, which is good, because a year before my RNY, he had a mild heart attack and had a couple of stents inserted.

If I had to cook "regular" or keep snacks/chips and other junk food in the house, I think I'd go crazy.  Part of my success stems from no longer keeping this kind of stuff in the house.  Luckily, Tony just either eats more of what we prepare or supplements his diet with additional food (terribly healthy stuff).

Both of us are lucky that my post-op diet hasn't been a real concern.  I can imagine that it could be difficult for others.

1)  I hate to say this but I would check with a lawyer. I took a wills and probate class and at that time in the state of Ohio (this was between 6 and 8 years ago) even with a will your family could contest it if you leave it all to a partner. Yeah, that's why I am so big on gay marriage. B.S. laws like that. The other stuff you want shouldn't be a problem and you could take care of it yourself but check about the partner stuff. I think my prof said wills usually cost less than $100 since they are easy to do.

2) I don't use protein powders since I have a sweetener allergy. I used unflavored and was on it for about a month and used maybe 2 jugs and it cost about 60 bucks. I have noticed that I eat less so it balances. Except the fruit kills me. SO EXPENSIVE!!! I always used frozen or canned veggies unless it was salad fixings so nothing has changed for that.

3) It's been a fight for the Monster-in-law and me since she does the cooking. She cooks HORRIBLY and I can't eat half the stuff she makes so I usually make egg salad or eat cheese sticks. I eat good on weekends when the hubby and I eat out. Steaks every weekend with leftovers for the next week. I refuse to cook since it's not my kitchen and I am criticized on how and what I make.

4) My PCP took care of it as soon as I told him I needed it. Sorry, I can't help you there.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
