We all know that exercise should be part of our healthy lifestyle.
In what way have you incorporate activity into your life?
Me? I finally joined a gym. I was a bad girl and didn't do much exercise for about a year after surgery. Now me and Chris have been going to the gym for about 1.5 months now and I'm loving it. We go 4-5 times a week and I do 30 minutes on the elliptical and about 45 minutes of weight training on the machines. I'm feeling great physically and I'm disappointed that I didn't start this sooner.

Southeast of Austin ~ between Austin and Houston. We've got all the traffic from the folks evacuating the coastal areas of Texas driving through our little town. I'm staying inside and hoping the high winds they are predicting don't blow too many of the trees in my little forest.

I was going to the gym religiously right after surgery...just to walk on the treadmill because I was training to run a 5K in October. However with the arthritis in my right knee flaring up, I can't do much right now and it's totally affected me. I'm way out of shape. I go see my orthopedist Monday to talk about options because I NEED to exercise! Needless to say, there will be more 5K's in the future but I wanted this one to be my first. Mybe my first 5K will be with a new knee. It's hard to tell right now :) At least my surgeon knows what's going on with me and my exercise so they've adapted their plan for me until I can get my knee fixed.
yeah after carrying around 500 pounds for several years, I figured my knee is totally blown. I was hobbling around on crutches about a week ago because I couldn't put any weight at all on it. That was around the time Hanna blew through here I believe. I can put weight on it now, but it's not stable. I'm really hoping my ortho can do something for me.
Oh the talk of knees -- --- weak quad muscle in left thigh since I was 12 -- makes my knee hurt. I know what to do for it -- leg extensions -- but do I do them all the time -- NO!
In October there is a 5K/1mile run walk Race for the Cure in Hunt Valley -- I was thinking I could probably run 3 miles and then I remember my knee -- so maybe I'll just run/walk the dang thang.
Good luck Aaron -- I hope the ortho can help and shed some light on the knee situation. I have to agree with Passion -- that treadmill could also be aggravating the knee -- try the eliptical -- MAN it is indeed a WORKOUT.
Peace & Light
