Hi everyone..I'm Lisa!

I found this forum from a post on the main forum. It's nice to have a place to talk and get to know each other.
I'm Pre-Op, I have just begun my supervised dieting, and I have really been overwhelmed with all the tests and appointments I have coming up. If everything goes OK, I'll know in Feb. if I'm approved. Keep your fingers crossed for me..lol

Sweety if they're checking to see if you have H.Pylori you can check for that through a blood test and don't have to have that GOD aweful thing shoved no where. They wanted me to do that **** and I let'm know quick wasn't nuttin' going down there! Give me a tube and I'd draw it myself. They didn't like it but they took it. You shuold ask and see what they're looking for before ya' open up and say awwwwwww, LMAO

My doc does it if you have acid reflux, heartburn, etc. Since surgery I have had 3 upper G.I.'s. They are not that bad, just a pain in the butt. Oh, and have popcicles for after cause the throat will be sore. I wish I would have had one pre-op cause it would have kept me from having one of my post-op problems. I just never had heartburn or acid reflux to make me need it.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Welcome Lisa -- I'm also pre-op and scheduled for my surgical consult on 9/23.  The dr.'s office told me to allow for a full day of fun & frolic as I'll also be meeting with the psych. and the nutritionist.  Somewhere in between they'll be taking bloods and some other tests.  Since I live in Provincetown, the hospital is about two hours away!

Hang in there and I will, too.  Visualize yourself healthy and happy, and kicking the crap out of anyone who dares to suggest that you "took the easy way out!"

Glad that you followed the trail of bread crumbs to this forum - hope you'll stay connected.

Hey, Lisa.  Welcome to the GLBT.  Good luck on all the pre-op crap.  Hoops and hurdles, but you can do it.  Keep us posted.

Good Morning Everyone.. I'll be staying here for sure. It's nice to have a place to go and get to know people who I know I can be myself...

Deb, I guess with the scope, they are looking for infection  and blockages. I just have a MAJOR problem with gagging easily, but I have been told that my throat will be numb, so I won't gag...we'll see!

Sean..I'm trying for the RNY. I wanted the Band at first, but my doc said that because of my age, weight, BMI, and medical issues, the RNY is my best choice. I have been researching the surgery for 5 years, and I know a few people that have had both procedures, and have done very well. I stopped thinking that I can lose all this weight myself, and I finally went for it.
I'm excited and scared all at the same time, but I know in the end, it will all be worth it!! Congrats to you!

Joanne, I have 4 appointments all on October 7th. I'll be getting my blood drawn, chest x-ray, ultrasound on my gallbladder, which is being removed prior to surgery, I'm also meeting with the nutritionist and my dietician...oh joy!! LOL But I know it will be worth it in the end. As for those narrow minded fools that think this surgery is an easy way out...they haven't lived my life and had to deal with my health issues. Plus, they don't know how it feels to be stared at or made fun of because of being over 300 pounds. I'm sure if they walked just one day in my shoes, they would change their opinions. Good luck to you Sweetie..

Sharyn,..Thank you very much hon. I'll keep you all posted..
