This summer the best part of the summer was entertaining on our new deck !!! We had a huge deck put onto the back of our house !!! It sits on the second florr level because our house is on a hill. All we have behind us is woods !! We had 18 "Bears" over on the 5th of July then a party with approx. 45 in mid Aug. (same week as on 14th anniversary together ) Wow .....It has made a big diffference in our lives.
Well... If my surgery had been in summer (it was in the spring) I would say I LOVE MY RNY!! But other than not recognizing myself in the mirror, my best part was signing the domestic partnership with my partner so we had something legal between now and our wedding in 2010.
If you are in California don't forget NO ON 8 in November!!

I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
That's an easy one for me!
The best part of the summer for me has to be Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, like it is every year. Last year, the week of the festival was also week 1 of my preop liquid diet. It was hard. I was exhausted. I had a great time, but I mostly stayed at my campsite when I wasn't actually in a rehearsal or performing.
This year, I was 11 months out from surgery. It was amazing how things that have been difficult for years felt relatively easy. I was able to get to where I needed to go without factoring in a bunch of extra time so that I'd be able to rest along the way.
I had the amazing opportunity to perform again with people that I admire. Because of my years singing with the choir there, I was invited to sing backup for a number on night stage for the third year. That meant I ended up being on stage with people like Aleah Long, Amy Ray, the members of Betty, ***** Ferron, Toshi Reagon, Laura Love, Gretchen Phillips... there were probably more that I'm not remembering. Being surrounded by that much talent makes me feel very wee and humble indeed.
I tried to paste in a photo, but I couldn't work it out. There are a few photos from festival on my profile.
