I was suppose to start weigh****chers last week but my partners father died 2 weeks ago and we had to drive down to FL. got back on sunday. we're both still emotionally and physically a wreck. he's doing better than I thought. I got weighed for the first time in ages last month 457. I went to my first weigh****chers meeting on Monday. I get 44 points a day... I thought it was going to be impossible to eat 44 points of food in one day... OMG I WAS SO WRONG Last night we got home from the mall and I wanted to pour myself a big glass of orange juice and eat a sherbert... figured I should calculate my points. WTF.. I only had 2 points left. So.. I had 2 bottles of water, 20 baby carrots and a 2 point ice cream. well I didnt realize that carrots were not free so I went 2 points over. and I have 6 months of this **** before surgery? Today I was in pain all morning... I'm NEVER hungry at work... but today it was like this whole time space continuum was all messed up. I had a bag of food that was suppose to last me all day. it was gone by 11:30. I ate a 2 point chocolate ww bar, a 1 point fiber one yogurt, a 6 point south beach meal, a 4 point boost smoothie, and a 1 point 100 calorie pack of sun chips (plus 2 bottles of water) someone walked by and tried to take some of my sun chips and I almost lost it. DO THEY NOT KNOW THAT MY FOOD IS PORTIONED??? The good news is I only gained a half pound between last month and last night (which was great considering all I did in FL was eat... seriously, someone dies and italians think it's cool to force feed you with nothing but sweets and pasta) I hope this isn't what it's like post surgery. Thanks for reading... I'm going to go gouge myself with water again. hopefully everyone else is doing fine

Hey Tony... I was concerned that it would be awful after the surgery... and can I tell you, I have yet to even feel hungry. I was in the same boat as you with the pre-surgery diet for the first few weeks... With time, it got a little easier. But since, (granted, I'm only 2 weeks out) I have yet to even kind of feel hungry... Hope that give you a little tiny light at the end of your tunnel.

Hi Tony... Ohh I remember those days. I have one piece of advice. Replace some of the snacks (sun chips, chocolate bar, etc) with protein. It fills you up faster and leaves you satisfied longer. A little protein goes a LONG way. And they have protein bars that taste like chocolate. I like the Pure Protein and the Met RX. They both have really high protein and low calories. Oh yeah and no surgar. Good luck and hang in there. I went through a morning period after I lost my food. It is hard to give up our best friend!

You're not going to feel very hungry after surgery for at least the first 4-6 months, and many people experience this lack of hunger for even longer. (I'm 8+ months out and I still "forget" to eat sometimes, though I feel something resembling mild hunger at mealtimes.) Plus, I read this: > I ate a 2 point chocolate ww bar, a 1 point fiber one yogurt, > a 6 point south beach meal, a 4 point boost smoothie, > and a 1 point 100 calorie pack of sun chips (plus 2 bottles of water) Trying to imagine myself eating that now (compared to pre-op), I just about burst my already-healed stitches! There's just NO ROOM for so much food. Can you imagine that? "NO ROOM" "So much food". Yes, it sounds weird and strange. It's one of those facts-of-WLS that's hard to get your head around before surgery. But it's real! Good luck with the diet and with your portion control; it should be the last time that you have to wrestle with quite the same sensations! /Steve

Tony You can get through this time like everyone else has said after surgery you will be fine. I too struggled with the pre-op diet and up to the day of surgery never thought I could drive by a McDonalds without speeding thru the drive thru. I am now 8 weeks out and feel full and satisfied. My physical activites have greatly increased. Walk those sweet puppies and think about you and your partners future together. I have been to many social functions since surgery without any temptation. I am so enjoying my new life. Since surgery I have gone from a size 46 pants to a 36 and actually catch myself in the mirror and have to take a double take. Eat the protein and drink the water this will make the transition after surgery so much easier. Take care!!

Tony, Hang in there guy! I was in your shoes before. I had to do a medically supervised diet for 6 months. I know that it sucks! In my experience, the packaged convenience foods and meals will make you more hungry due to refined carbs. I always felt much more satisfied with healthy lean protein sources from real food. I am having surgery on Monday and can't wait to be on the other side. I would have lost it on the person stealing your chips!!

Tony, The six months will be up way before you know it.. During my six month diet i thought i was hungry all the time. But now that i am 7 weeks post op and down 74 lbs, it was well worth it. I do get a feeling sometimes that i am hungry but now when that happens a little water does the trick till its time to eat again.. I am eating ever 3 hrs and nothing after 7pm.. Good luck Scott

Thanks y'all this is really comforting. I had 28 points to use for dinner tonight and I had indian food (small portions) I figured with the paneer/peppers I ate I spent all my points in the meal and satisfied the last bit of my oil/milk/veggie requirements for the day... I keep thinking about having just one ice cream bar before bed but I surpress the hunger with water... bed time in 15 minutes... 2 days down (i'll probably wipe out those 35 flex points too seeings how I have no clue how many points were in the indian food lol)
