Hello all, Well its been one hell of a week. It started off with me in the ER early Monday morning for a while.. Comes to find out somehow i got myself dehydrated, and was having really sharp pains on my mid right side. Still not sure how i did that i have my water with me all the time.. Well they pumped 3 bags of liquid in me.. Well I did see my Dr. the same day. He told me the pain was common with new surgery for the first six months. He said Basically the pain is from me doing more than i should be doing. So i am back to just walking on the treed mill.. He put me back on my soft foods every 2-3 hours.... How the hell am i going to eat that often. My question is now that i am 3 weeks out folks, and down 50lbs.. I have been eating every 2-3 hrs and at times i am finding my tummy is hungry and making noise when its not time to eat? am i doing anything wrong/ Give me more ideas please on food, I am trying to stay away from the CARBS.. all together but not working. Any ideas would be great.. Thank you Scott

Hi Scott! I'm sorry you ended up dehydrated! I think I was dehydrated for the first couple weeks because I just could not get enough water in. if you've been put back on soft foods, I have a few things I use. Chicken salad - canned chicken (white meat only and packed in water) with a tablespoon of smart balance mayo and a squirt of spicy brown mustard. Pretty tasty stuff. I have that on whole wheat townhouse crackers. fat Free Cottage Cheese Fat free refried beans with salsa Oatmeal for breakfast or I'll have eggbeaters and MorningStar Farms makes GREAT vegetarian bacon!!!! It crumbles up and melts in your mouth so there's not much to be caught on. This is what I'm currently eating. I should be on regular food now but I needed to clean out the 20 cans of fat free refried beans out of my pantry LOL yeah bad habit of stockpiling! I'm sure there's other people out there who have even more ideas! Aaron

Oh Scott - so sorry that you're going through this! Sounds like your body is trying to tell you to slow down. I haven't much to offer since I'm pre-op, but here are some ideas for food: Mix 1/4 cup part-skim ricotta with 1 tbs. smooth peanut butter (trust me!) Puree a can of chick peas, mix in a little garlic, a little lemon , salt & pepper -- viola hummus! Find yourself some Greek yogurt (supermarkets carry it now). It is very thick (consistency of pudding) and is a protein power house! A little vanilla extract, a little sweetener and you'll think you were having a terrific dessert! Kathy W. told me about this web site: http://www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Lots of good recipes and other stuff of interest, written by a post-op. Check it out. Take good care of yourself -- we love our Bears! Joanne

hey Sweet... the gurggling 3 weeks out is probably more gas and swallowing air,,there was a steep learning curve for me about talking and swallowing air... eating every 2-3...it only has to be a spoonful... bite of yogurt/cold pack/bite of yogurt/cold pack it's a pain....chicken soup-minus the noodles....reheats well... it does get easier
