New drink
Okay, so I know booze is a bit hard for post opers due to sugar. I did not look to see how much sugar is in Vodka (does not taste like any), but I found the BEST martini and I do not like anything but a dirty martini. I took Crystal Light Cherry and Lemon and mixed it with the Vodka, a splash of Cran-Apple juice and whole parts of pineapple. I do not like "fruity" drinks, but OMG...this is wonderful...
As she says after the third one trying to type!!!
My surgeon warns us that we'll get hit my the effects of alcohol much more quickly and more profoundly after RNY surgery.
I was never a really big drinker, though when I dined out, having beer or wine was always part of the package. Now that I rarely dine out, I've only tried beer and wine a few times. Each time, I only had one serving, and I didn't care much for the way wine made my pouch feel. Beer (Sam Adams) filled me up really quickly; enough that it was hard to eat even the tiny amount of food from the meal I ordered!
I was a little disappointed that I didn't get raging drunk after only 1 drink (kidding), but I didn't try drinking a whole lot more. Haven't tried any mixed drinks as yet.
I'm not a crusading teetotaler, but my reactions so far to alcohol have been a lot like my reactions to formerly-beloved foods. I just don't care that much about it, so far. I'm sure this could change in the future.
