How about some introductions!

Hi all! Since I see quite a few new faces, it may be time once again to tell a little about ourselves so we can get to know each other a little better. I'm Rachelle. I'm 44 years old and live in New Jersey with my wife Chris and our neurotic dog Sunny. Chris and I had our civil union in March and went on an Olivia cruise for our honeymoon. We are both vegetarians and loving it, although I started adding fish to get more protein in. I'm an executive assistant at a large accounting firm and I'm very out and open at work. We are participating in AIDS Walk New York next weekend as part of my firm's team. I hap Lap RNY 9 months ago and I am down 90 lbs. The surgery has changed my life and I couldn't be happier. Today I am going to plant my veggie garden, so I'm excited about that. Nothing like fresh veggies from the garden. So, who's next? Rachelle

My name is Sommer. I am planning on having RNY in July or August. I have my last set of appts on June 3rd!! I live in NC with my wife KJ, our five cats Bella, Alley, Minnie, Cosmo and Friday and our dog Dodger. We had our civil union in Vermont two years ago. Like Rachelle, I do not eat meet (full out vegan). I manage an apartment complex building of 320 units and my wife is in school to get her Physician Assistant with a minor in wildlife bio and she works in the lab at one of our hopsitals. And I cannot wait for surgery! Oh yeah, and I love you guys...you all rock!

Sommer, I don't know if it was an accident or on purpose. I'm hoping it was on purpose, because it made me laugh if it was. (Believe me, I'm not the spelling police) Did you spell "meat" as "meet" because you're such a "full out vegan"?

Hi everyone! I am Connie and my partner is Kay. We've been together 22 years. We love to travel on Olivia cruises! I am a counselor of mainly adults with all kinds of adult issues and I also teach at a medical school. My partner is a retired elementary teacher and she has a garden design business. I had lapband surgery in Oct 2007 and have lost 80 lb and she had the same three weeks later and she has lost almost 70. We are very active on the IL board and are out there. I'm out at my job and pretty much everywhere. We are both thrilled with our surgeries and looking forward to easier traveling! Connie

Hi, my name is Sharyn and I have posted on the GLBT board sporadically, but have not formally introduced my self. My partner and I have been together for nearly 18 years. We had our civil union 12 years ago. My partner, Janet, gave birth to our daughter, Emily, who will be 9 later this month. We have 2 cats ~ Fred & Bob; 1 dog ~ Sparky; 2 mice (shudder) ~ Despereaux & Peanut; and a 10-gallon aquarium. We both had lap RNY nearly 4 years ago. She has lost 135 pounds and I have lost 125 pounds. We both reached goal in about 13 months, and have maintained our weight loss, within a 10 pound range. We are both full time students. Janet is majoring in history, with a specialty in Civil War. I am pursuing my associates degree in nursing. I anticipate graduating in May, 2009. Emily is a vegetaria (who eats the occasional chicken nugget) and Janet & I are nearly cannibals, LOL. Mice to meet all of you guys. I hope to participate in this board more often. Sharyn nurse2be

I don't really like to talk about it (but let's just say, I wear a uniform of some sort, and NO, I'm not telling you any more than that, you can use your imagination, which will probably be correct.) By the way, I'm TOTALLY out at work! No problems, what-so-ever!!! I have a g/f of almost two years (pic's on my profile). She was my supervisor for LA Pride, and she just swooped me up on the first year that I volunteered. Our eyes met, and well, you know... We don't live together. U-Haul was out of trucks on our second date, and well... I love salmon, Chilean sea-bass, peanut butter and Patron tequila! OK, I'm exhausted. More to come. Doesn't it feel great to want?

HOWWW DEE! Ok, enough Oklahoma humor! I'm Jean Ann, but my friends call me Jat. I'm 33 and live in Tulsa, OK with my partner Leesa (3 years July 2008!) and our two dogs, Maggie and Roxie. I work for Cherokee Nation Enterprises at the Catoosa casino, just outside of Tulsa. I've been researching the different procedures and have decided to have RNY done as soon as I complete my diet (90 days) for my insurance. I'm going to do Weigh****chers and see if I can loose some of this before surgery. A few years ago, I bought myself a house in midtown Tulsa. I love hanging out in the back yard with the dogs and occasionally going out to the area bars. I've been heavy all my life and I'm really looking forward to loosing about 100 pounds and going back to Six Flags in Dallas to ride EVERY FLIPPIN' RIDE THEY HAVE! Might even fly down there and not have to get a belt extender! lol Anymore questions, just ask.. I'm an open book, really... sometimes to a fault hahaa Jat
