One week later

Hello Everyone, I apologize for being a lazy slug and not letting everyone know I am home. It is 1 week today I had my innards sliced and diced and everything went ok. Debby (aka half of the Yenta squad) and my friend George were with with me. The operation only took an hour and Dr Aranow said it was a breeze thanks to the weight I lost pre-op.Re-coop time so far has been trial and error. Mr. Pouch can be tempermental at times. Right now it looks like I may have an infection at the bottom of my incision. I will call Lois tomorrow and see what she says. I cheated and got on the scale today.....I am down 21 pounds since surgery! I am still not sure about returning to work though, I get wiped out after 2 or 3 hours, must be all the 390 calories I'm consuming each day. I'm having no problem getting in my protein, its trying to get all the water in. Today I found out what dehydration feels like. Just like when my sugar crashes. Not fun, 8 oz of water later I was fine. My sincerest thanks to everyone for their prayers and thoughts and emails.

Rich, Glad to hear things went well and you're doing good. I'm almost 2 years out and my pouch is still tempermental. It is definately a learning process. Good luck and keep up the good job. JM

Glad you're doing ok. Pay real close attention to the fluids. I wound up in the ER three days after I came home and needed three liters of fluid to catch up. Not fun. Welcome to the Loser's Bench!

Yeah hun, dehydration is NOT fun. I had a stricture and got dehydrated because of that. Just remember tho that the protein drinks do count as fluid intake so you don't have to have 48 ozs. of water, just fluids. I thought I was doing bad until Liz reminded me of that at my first appt.
