another newbie!
Hello all,
I am a bit over 2 months out from my surgery. Still not so sure I did the right thing, I have had 4 endo procedures, 2 surgeries, ended up back in the hospital for 4 days with an abcess at the drain site from my 2nd surgery. Though I have lost over 42 pounds, which I do enjoy. The way everything hurts when I eat or drink I could do without!! I still struggle to get in enough fluids and protien. I was surprised that I would still have cravings (for salad and veggies, which I can't really eat yet with the ulcer and the stricture of my pouch), that I would be so weak still. Anyway enough boohooing! I am glad to see a GLBT message board for those going thru the weight loss surgery!
I am wondering how other couples have faired after the surgery? So far so good for us, my partner just looks forward to my being more active. She does miss going out to eat with me. We did go out for her Birthday and I tried to eat but its hard for me. She worries that I will get too skinny (huh!)
A little about us, we are Deb (me) and Betty my partner of over 6 years. We were married in MA in July '04, but live in NH, so it isn't legal, so we may have to get a CU. We have 4 dogs we love dearly (they all pile into bed with us at night!), a grown daughter and her 4 month old twin boys (our grandbabies are just perfect!), 18 yearold son who has Aspbergers Syndrome, a lady with developmental delays who lives with us (I am her caretaker) oh, did I mention the 3 cats??? We have a full house to say the least!!!
Well, enough for a first post! Looking forward to replys!!!

Hey neighbor !!!! We have 6 cats...1 dog...I work at childrens and specialize in working with children with developemental delays and behavioral difficulties....I am sorry to hear the compilcations you have had with your surgery....Hope to see you on the board
Howdy Neighbor!
We arn't so far away here in Portsmouth NH. We are both originally from the Boston area. We tried to sell our house 2 years ago to move back but it didn't sell. So, guess we will just stay put for the time being.
Working at Childrens must be both heartbreaking and rewarding. I have a real soft spot for Downs people. So are you familar with Aspbergers? My son has really been a job, and it isn't getting easier now that he is 18!
What kind of dog do you have? Ours are all little, Molly is a Westie, Mac is a Yorkie, John Francis and Reese are two of their offspring.
The complications from the surgery have been real hard. Being the 'Mom' of the house it has been hard on the family also. It has to start getting better soon right? At least I hope it will!!! :-s

Welcome to the forum. Here's hoping the complications are all behind you and that you have smooth sailing from now on.
As to relationships after weight loss surgery--it seems that good relationships come through better than ever and relationships that are already struggling fall apart.
Your house sounds a lot like mine--Anne and I have been together for almost 15 years now, we have 4 dogs, and my disabled sister lives with us. Looking forward to more from you in the future.
