Ok this happened 2 years ago....here in houston....there was going to be a 'Walk From Obesity"...a walk-a-thon to "Help raise awareness of obesity...."
Ok that is OK....but the person, who was in charge of it her name was KIM...Now Kim was the Bariactric Co-ordinator for one of the hospitals...she was not a doc, she was not a nurse, she was nat a nutrition person....she was a sells rep, that was in charge of drumming up people to have surgery....(she her self had had the surgery and was very successfull...and she had a marketing degree, that is why she got the job...)
Ok, that is cool too....
now when she was putting htis all together...she was on the texas board all day long...blah blah blah...how important it was..and the money went to research....
(now that was not entirely true...OH is a for profit organization....and they do provide us with this lovely internet space...for free....so I think they are entitled to get the money for adverising...I mean all this has to cost something....)
Well, some of our people starting asking about how much of the contributed money when to research....and we finally got the information...and it really was not that impressive...which is ok too...but she was hawking it like all the money was for research...so people got a little suspicious.....
Now, as the time grown near, everyone is excited....and the different support groups, most not affiliated with any hosptial or doctor...wanted to get, group tee shirts printed...
now that was nice....people really wanting to be a part of something....people wanted to have shirts with a blank on the front..saying I lost *** pounds...let me tell you how....and they would fill in the number on the day of the walk so they could brag about their sucess...that is really into it
Now for the $25 entry fee, you were suppost to get a tee shirt....which had all the sponsers on it....he hospital being the biggest sponser, they had the biggest name...
and Kim declaired....tha you would only be able to walk in the event, if you wore the official tee shirt....
Well, a bunch of the differnent groups, wanted their own shirts...and then people who had surgery at different places did not want to advertise another hospital...
But Kim was a flameing BIOTCH...and she stated...that if everyone was wearing different shirts...that we would look..."UNEDUCATED AND DISORGANIZED"
and she restated, that if we did not wear her marketing shirt, they woudl take our money but we were not allowed to participate in the event..."she did not want us makeing a bad impression for the press"
(now side note...this is the lady that closed her support group meetings...no one knew that the meetings were closed....so some people got invited, they drove cross town in houston, and were seated...and infront of the group, she asked the people to leave, because "There were using services..a chair...intended for paying paients)
Ok things got ugly...and she started signing all her posts...with all of her titles...
Bariactric Co-ordinator for blah blah blah
Health Co-cordinator for Drs. So and so and so
and Chair of the Walk from obesity...
so let it be written so let it be done.....
Well, I was sitting on the side lines....when she did this post....and she put down my surgeons name, that he had endorsed her plan....
and another lady, she put down her docs name....
Well we called our surgeons office...saying...I wanna talk to the doc...about his decision...well of course, the doc did not know anything about it...and didn;t even know that there was a walk....
so a group of us called the hospital wereshe worked...and said.blah blah blah....and copied them the posts......
the hospital CEO called, and was concerned about he negative backlash....
And then Kim, called me....and she started "oh on the e-mail you could not hear the emotion in her heart...blah blah blah...cha cha cha....."
I was evil....I just let her twist in the wind....and I was nice...and told her people had written letters for hundreds of years and been able to communicate effectively....that I didn;t need to hear her voice to know her intentions...."
well to end the saga...the event was a flop, only about 20 people showed up, and 2000 were expected....and the event has never really gotten big...and that is a shame//
she left the hospital, and is now marketing for a different wls group....(she didn;t leave becuase of this...she left later...)
ok that is the historical gossip....
thank you for putting up with my poor spelling
