Good evening all! Was very happy to find this message board. I was wondering if there was a GLBT board, and just found it tonight. I am scheduled for a Lap RNY a week from Monday on the 17th. Any surgery buddies here? Anyone here from Northern KY? Maureen (Mo)

Welcome to this board! I had lapband surgery in October and my partner had it in November. You will get a lot of support here. It is a great group of people!

So very glad to meet you Birder! Wow! Both of you having WLS. What a great way to head into 2008! I am hoping that through my surgery my partner Paula and our son Andrew will also get healthy. I have been trying out recipes for after WLS from a book by Leach. Andrew loves the turkey burgers, even though he swore when I told him what it was, that he would not eat it. How are you and your partner doing since your surgery? Anyway, I am so excited! This morning I go for my H&P. My surgeon is so sweet. I feel like I can talk to him about anything! Keep in contact. I'm feeling surprisingly fine. Today (Saturday) I've been home from the hospital for a week. I can't believe how quickly this week at home has passed, especially since it seems that I had been in the hospital forever! I still have some minor discomfort from the lap port incisions--some tightness in my abdomen, and as of today, they've started itching (which I guess is a positive sign that things are healing). But the discomfort gets measurably less with each passing day. From everything I'd read, I expected to feel really tired, or to tire easily, for several weeks after surgery, but so far I feel fine. I started walking around my neighborhood two days after I got home; I'm not trying to overexert myself, and it's _really_ cold in Boston this week, but a daily walk hasn't tired me out, and getting stuff done around the house (other than lifting) hasn't been a problem. People rightfully warned me that the 1st week post-op could be very hard, and it hasn't been a total breeze, but I haven't really felt any bad pain, just discomfort, and that's been handled well with oxycodone/Tylenol syrup. /Steve
