OT: sadness...
The story of Brandon Teena is very, very sad. The fact that the story is true makes it very difficult for me to watch.
A fair amount of the people close to me are trans* so watching it completely ripped my heart out. When it came out on VHS I bought a copy because I felt like it was important that I own it, but I have never been able to even take the plastic wrap off of it. I can't stand to watch it again.

ya i think the "truth" factor is what really tore me up. it's easier to watch horrible stuff when you know it's just a spielberg flick or something. but when it actually happened? (and especially if you've ever been assaulted or personally gone through any of the other horrors included in this film or know someone who has.) that seems to make it worse i guess.
