Back from the hospital at last!
Just a quick note to say that I was released from the hospital this afternoon (Sat, 12/1), a couple of days later than anyone expected.
My RNY was on Nov 27, and although I felt pretty good afterwards (more or less what I'd been expecting), my surgeon noted that my hematocrit had dropped quite a bit after the surgery, indicating that I had some ongoing bloodloss. In the meantime, I had my swallow test, and started stage 1 liquids (water). But by Thursday, with no consistent rise in the crit, they wanted to open me back up and determine where the source of the leak was. My surgeon and his fellows were really great, in that they made sure I was part of the decision process. They cleaned out quite a few clots (including one very large one), made sure that there was no longer any active bleeding, and put an extra stitch or two in one area.
Anyhow, this added a few extra days to my recovery, but I made steady progress, enough that I was about to be released today, about two days later.
Now, I just have the usual post-op 1st-week-home issues.... Ouch!
