TV: Shot at Love with Tila Tequila
Not sure if anyone's seen, or even heard of, this MTV show. Just knowing that it's a "reality" "dating" "competition" show on MTV with a girl named TILA TEQUILA made me roll my eyes bigtime But, I gave it a chance last night and watched a few episodes with a couple of my friends.
I had heard that Tila, the woman everyone's apparently pining over, is bisexual and that there are male and female constestants competing for her "love" (lol) so I was intrigued. I hoped maybe this show could portray bisexuality in a good light.
Was I WRONG! Tila went to the last four contestants' houses to eat a meal with their family and every single time she totally milked her orientation! I know most of it was for TV but shoot, was I embarrassed jus****ching it. One of the families was the typical wealthy white fake-blonde families where the children still live at home though they're way old enough to move out.. and though they seemed very uncomfortable with her insistent references to her sexuality (she even insisted that one of the daughters will realize she is bisexual or something OMG) and it was sooo terrible. In the end it was all right but I was so disgusted.
One of the female contestants asked another female contestant, who is butch, if Tila looked at her as female or male!! What?! Some people are stupid. lol
I mean, I can't say I didn't completely enjoy what I watched (Tila gave the grandmother of one of the female contestants a lap dance wtf) but it was fraught with lame drama and obvious exploitation of bisexuality. But of course, this is MTV, what was I expecting?

Yes I have seen parts of that show. Tila in my opinion is HIGHLY DAMAGED. She is not what I would consider stable in any way. She is definitely more of an example of what happens when someone has a significant history of abuse and/or organic mental illness which has lead to significantly effected personality developement. That is my nice clinically based way of saying...she is one crazy F^ck'd up ***** She is the poster child of what people THINK a bisexual person is like. Like almost all REALITY T.V. there is some reality...but they pack the players carefully to produce the spectical and drama that makes good television. What I have read many to most bisexual people are serially manogamus. They can have meaningful relationships with either sex. That is not to say there is a time when they are playing the field. There (or your field is a lot bigger) I lived with a girlfriend for 1.5 years. We went out for 2 years. I was manogamus the entire relationship. I had several girlfriends. During that time I still had an attraction to men, but I was also attracted to women. In the long run I found that my sexual attraction to men was a stronger drive. I decided that I did not want to get married then "cheat" on my wife. It was a concious decision not to get married. It took me a long time to figure out my sexual preference.....Hopefully there will be a decent show about bisexuality it will most likely be on LOGO or The Discovery Channel
yes, I agree.. At first I thought that the show was going to be good, and maybe shed some light on the bisexual lifestyle.. But.. I guess not.. I have never really seen the show, but I have seen previews and MANY interviews with her and she is just weird.. I agree with you Sean, that she just seems like she's missing a few screws... LOL.. And for the record, I am glad that you made the comment Sean that you did about Bisexuals being monogomus.. I am a Bisexual. I was with my boyfriend for 4 years, we got married, and then had a baby. We didn't work out for several reasons, and then I met Ann... And when I met her I was the "straight" girl.. I wasn't looking for a woman although- I knew that I had an attraction to women, but I never pin pointed it or looked into it really. And then I met Ann like I said, and fell completely in love with her. And we have been together for almost 3 years.. And there has been no issues at all about not being true or cheating or anything.
I'll stop rambling-- but I guess what I am trying to say is that I am attracted to both sex's.. But I am happy where I am.. If Ann and I broke up, I am not sure what sex I would choose, I would probably play both fields. Because I believe 100% that I am not attracted to the actual Male or Female.. It's the personality that attracks me. And If I fall in love with a person, I don't care if he/she has 4 breasts, 3 eyeballs and a penis... (well that would be a little weird, but I would still love the person...)
Not sure if this will make sense to anyone, but.. oh well :0)
Keep up the good work everyone!!!

I love your comment, thank you! If someone asks me I won't deny it, but I don't tell people I'm bisexual because I know a lot of people must think bisexual people are either just indecisive or especially that the women only kiss girls for fun and to attract men. Ugh!! I know a lot of (stupid) girls do that but puh-lease!
Ya know, I think all these reality shows are about the biggest freaks they can find to be the "star" and then find more freaks to be the "dates". Also, most people believe that homosexuals and bisexuals sleep around. What this show is doing is buying into that belief. People need to realize that someone is going to sleep around no matter what thier sexual orientation. The biggest ****s I know are straight.
It would probably seem strange to a lot of people for me to say that I consider myself bisexual--after all, I have been in a 14+ year monogamous relationship with a woman.
But the truth is, I have had and enjoyed sex with both men and women. As far as relationships go--I prefer women. And politically I'm a lesbian.
I really think that sexual orientation is a Bell curve, and most people ARE somewhere in the middle.
I'll admit that I'm horribly addicted to this show. Not necessarily because I like Tila (whom I think resembles a Bratz doll), but rather because I liked a few of the contestants.
I think she's playing this "bi" card to the extreme. Seems to me that coming out is a pretty personal and life-altering decision, and to do it on national TV in a reality show is a bit rehearsed. However, it makes for good TV, so MTV is going to do it.
