Hello everyone !! I am working on thanksgiving and christmas eve. As a nurse I have adapted to jugging holidays. I am happy to work on "the big eating holiday" we plan on going to my sisters for christmas. She usually has about 50 of my family and her husband's family. We will see russ' family the week end after christmas. What are you planning to do for the holidays ??? and I know I am going to need support around my first holiday season... lets start talking about them now healthy eating....Strategies in social situations ect....... I know this is skirting close to ther "other" boards......But we will have fun with it !!!!

We are going to my partner's brother's house and our niece is also eating pureed because of wisdom teeth so I think there will be a lot of laughter about food choices. We are bringing our no sugar cranapple relish. For Christmas we are not having an open house or any kind of an activity where we have to prepare food we can't eat. In terms of other social events, we'll take each one as they come...this board will help!

Cranberry Conserve 4.5 C peeled, diced Winesap or other cooking apples 3 C fresh cranberries .5 C unsweetened apple juice 1/4 C brown sugar splenda 1/2 C golden raisins 2 t. peeled, grated ginger root 1/2 t cinnamon 1/8 t salt 1/8 t. ground cloves Combine all. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook uncovered about 15 minutes. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Calories in whole recipe=1093. We usually get about 7 cups, but measure what you get and divide into the calories. Copied from a magazine 10 years ago.

I'm going to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving. I'm very excited about the turkey and squash and green beans. I'm planning on bringing a sugar-free pumpkin pie, om nom nom

It will just be my brother and I. We got our turkey on sat and I'll do the whole works using mom's china and my grandmothers platter. I love using these things because even though these people are'nt with us anymore part of them still is. I am axcited that this will be my last "fat" Thanksgiving. Next year is gonna be way scaled down.

My wife and I are hosting a Thanksgiving meal at our house - all the usual food. Then we are travelling to her family in MO for Christmas - all the usual foods times two. This holiday season is going to be hard. I'm pre-op and have no restrictions really, other than I'm trying to be very conscious of my food choices in preparing for surgery. I'm having to fight the "this will be my last 'normal' Thanksgiving so I should eat up and enjoy" syndrome. The emotional eating has become a nightmare for me as I've been working so hard to be conscious of it and curb it. And since I don't get along with some of my wife's family, I am sure that Christmas is going to be the ultimate challenge. Sigh. I'm sure I'll be lurking around here looking for inspiration. xmasmama

I am on call Thanksgiving, off Friday and work my usual Sat. Like you, Sean, I am used to juggling the holidays with my work too. We don't really go anywhere. I cook a full turkey dinner at home and the hottie man husband will go to his folks to have ham dinner too. He's 5'10'', 170 lbs. and eats like 2 people!! I am normaly one of those people that eat and cook at the same time. This first eating season has me a little nervous. I will be visiting here for support as well. This year I am so very thankful for my OH family!!
