Jerry and I came home early Friday afternoon. We both successfully survived the surgery. Jerry went first and I got updates from the nursing staff as I was in pre-op. We were both put in an area in the recovery where were close to each other. By the time we got to ICU, were were both still sedated by able to hold regular conversations. We were in private rooms right next to each other in ICU and as lick would have it the nurse that was assigned to us that night was gay. Honey, Florence Nightengale put on her nurses cap and took us under his wing like we were his children. He was wonderful. We are both so thankful to him for being there. Today we sent his flowers as a thank you. It became rather romantic as we began to take our walks together and then Jerry would visit my room or I would visit his for a spell. No hamky-panky. That was even further from our minds than food. We came home yesterday afternoon and are feeling OK. Still have a lot of gas but that has been resolving itself. We actually walked around the block both yesterday and today. Soon I will be posting some pics to show my before, after and progress. Looking forward to continuing being a part of this group! Doug

So glad you hear from you!!! Give my best to Jerry too. I'm glad all went well and that you had family take care of you in ICU. At least since both of you are dealing with the gas, it can be a "together thing" lol Take care of yourselves and keep us posted!

Welcome Home! And congratulations to you both for coming through the surgery safe and sound. How lucky that "Nurse Florence" was there for you as well. I can't imagine a better way to spend the post-op hours than taking long slow walks together... Looking forward to reading about all that then next months bring to you! xmasmama
