Slow Loser

So it's official...my surgeon said I'm a slow loser She said it's nothing I'm doing wrong. It's my age (what!?!?!) and my metabolism. Oh well. I'm actually happy with my weight loss thus far. Since I started my liquid diet, I'm down 47.5 lbs. I'm not unhappy about that. I'll tell you one thing though, this was the kick in the ass I needed to start exercising. I want to reach my goal and I want to stay there. I can only do that with exercise. Rachelle Lap RNY 8/6/07 Dr. Ren Starting/Surgery/Current/Goal 257 / 245 / 209.5 / 140

Hmm.. I wouldn't think you're a slow loser. You were on the "light" side (forgive me for using that word, hope you know what I mean!) and people who have less weight to lose do tend to lose weight slower. You lost 47.5lb in THREE MONTHS!! That's awesome!! I lost 50 in two, but I weighed more than 80lb more than you did when I went in for surgery.

Thanks Not Rachel. I'm happy with my loss regardless of what she said. I agree that lightweights seem to lose at a slower rate. Rachelle

That's funny because I wouldn't call you a slow loser. I'm 2.5 months out and (only) 35.5 pounds down. I've learned to accept my slow weight loss. I don't think I'm going to lose as much as you and I'm a so-called lightweight too. I think you're doing great! Donna

Thanks Donna. I accept my loss whole heartedly! I believe we are both going to lose what we need to lose as long as we keep doing what we are supposed to do! Rachelle

Losing slower in many ways is healthier. You are doing great ! I could care less about how much I lose....It comes down to the positive lifestyle changes I have made. I also look at how different my body looks and the size clothes I wear. Rachelle I am just happy you are here. You have been such a positive person on this board. Keep doing what you are doing and..slow and steady wins the race !!! Sean

Thanks Sean! I'm happy to be here. I love the energy on this board!! I'm not unhappy about my loss. I make an effort not to compare myself to others, but everyone else seems to do that for me...surgeon, mom, sis...oh well. As long as I feel good and keep getting healthier each day, I'm estatic! According to my calculations, you have lost 36% of your excess weight in 3 months. That's not too bad at all. You could still make goal. Exercise is ALWAYS a good idea, though. It has many other benefits besides helping to maximize your weight loss.
