OK, I've been thinking. Me and Chris will be together 16 years this December (or is it 17?...boy I'm getting old) Anyway, we are planning our Civil Union for March. Should we be counting from 1 again, or should we just continue with the original numbers? What would you do? Rachelle

Opinions welcomed! You are absolutely right! I am not going to start counting all over again. BTW...I think it is 17 years, not 16. I have to check with Chris. Congrats on 15.....here's to long timers (that's a protein shake in those glasses) Rachelle

Don't start over! All the prior years of your relationship should still count as anniverseries.

I would not start over. You have put many good years together so they count in my opinion. Congratulations!!!! Doug

Donna and I were in the same situation. So we held our CU on our anniversary date and we count ours from the beginning. Congratualtions!! Terri

Since Russ and I were able to get married 3 years ago.I tell people I have been married for 3 years and together for 13......I figure it is like a hetro couple who are togther for many years before marrying...We have been togther for 13..and we have been married for 3

Sean's right....that's the perfect solution. If you don't acknowledge the previous years it sounds like you just got together. 16 years is A LOT in our community!

OK, I agree with Sean, Do it like a hetero couple would do, been together for x numer of years and married for x amount of time. Also, Cathy, 16 years is a long time no matter what.
