What are YOU doing for exercise ?

I Know that bypass patients progress slowly with exercise....but what is every one doing??? I have been able to walk since day 5...go to the gym and treadmill (it keeps me honest) How is everyone else doing? ....
Well, today I walked both sides of our street. That is good for me. The surgery isn't what keeps me from exercising. It's the lower back pain I get because of my weight. I don't know why they think that just because I had WLS I can suddenly walk for a long time. I also spend about 5 min at a time on our "cross trainer". It will get better. I'm going back to work tomorrow so just getting ready will be plenty of exercise for me!! LMAO
You will make it! Keep doing what you're doing and stay motivated. Set a small goal that you want to reach and go for it and then set another. You know I know you can do this because I've seen you accomplish many things. Take on that kind of attitude with working out and you'll get to the working out process of 5 days -- 6 or 7 -- naw, your body needs the time to recover. I don't work out 6-7 days in a row. I've worked out 3 days in a row. Tonight we are going out so there will be no workout and hopefully I'll feel like working out Saturday after an all day Balm in Gilead conference. We shall see. I joined League of Women Bowlers so that will help tone the arms and plus its fun -- that's my Sunday exercise.

Hey Brotha Sean...
Great question....ok i'm 3 weeks post thigh surgery....but before that..
45 mins witht he free weights, and then 45 mins on the elipital...about 5 times a week...
everyone remember, you shoes are gonna get loose....get some new ones...it keeps your legs from hurting
Russ..hey remember I'm 2.5 years out
I do cardio 3-4 times a week, 30 minutes on my treadmill at 3 mph on a 3.5 percent grade. Everytime it starts to get too easy I up either the speed or the grade.
Twice a week I do strength-training and flexibility exercises. On those days I do 10 minutes on the treadmill, then hit the Bowflex where I do 3 sets each of 4 leg exercises, 3 arm exercises, 2 chest and 3 abd exercises. Then I do stretches.
I do all my execises first thing in the morning, getting up 40-75 minutes earlier. That's the only way I can get them in regularly.
My surgery was the same day as Rachel's, so I'm also still going pretty slowly. After starting back to work just 13 days after surgery, I'm exhausted usually by the end of the workday. It makes exercise tough.
That being said, my personal trainer is just waiting for me to get clearance from the surgeon and is going to be working me really hard as soon as we can. I can't wait.

Since my surgery, I have been heavily involved in the martial arts. I train six times per week and approximately four to three to four hours per day. I also jog 15 miles per week (five miles at three days per week). Last, on the off days when I don't jog, I do Pilates, which is great because it helps me build even greater flexibility.
Exercising has become a lifestyle for me since the surgery.
