Hello! Newbie here!

I am new to this board. Just got here by way of our local state forum...I had to run because I was afraid a few of them were going to start a prayer group to pray the gay from me. So, my beloved Kimmy is going to have WLS soon and I am her supportive, devoted love. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor and love to joke about so, easily offended, fundamentalist folks need to go ahead and place the ignore button on me. (You should see replys I got on the other board). Otherwise, I hope to talk to some openminded, openhearted folks who have had RNY or are supportive to them. Connie

Welcome to the GLBT Board. It took me a while to find it after lurking for a few months on OH. It's slow but the people are nice. I'm new here myself. I haven't had surgery yet but I do have a date sometime in October. Hope to see you around. Until next time.....

Hi Constance...welcome! This board gets a bit slow at times, but it is a great bunch. I'm getting ready for my surgery in about 2 weeks and my partner is very supportive. It's you guys that make a big difference in handling all the changes that will happen. That I believe whole heartedly. I guess each state forum is different. I go on both the NJ and the NY boards. I'm very open about my sexuality and everyone has been very accepting. Or, I guess I assume they are. If they are not, they are not posting about it. Rachelle

Hey there, Connie! This is Mike (you know, from the Alabama Board LOL)... I completely understand - I had been "chased off" of that board a number of times, but I won't let that happen any longer. At any rate, my welcome to you was indeed genuine, and this board is even MORE fun - - I just wish that there was more traffic here. It is a sadly under-used board. Oh well, now that WE'RE here, the party can begin! LOL..... My partner Stuart and I have been together for 11 years as of this last May 13th (my birthday! LOL - we met on my birthday...), and I also have a very DEAR and best friend who lives locally, Amy, who poses as my fiancee/girlfriend/wife/whatever for work and social events (I work for the military, and I have seen how they have treated other gay people - it's really disgusting, especially when they "find ways" of getting rid of people's jobs because of it)... Ironically, Amy and I have become so close that we do have a love for one another and we are as close as a man and a woman can be - without sex or a marriage LOL.... we always refer to ourselves as the "real life Will and Grace"... I am from Southern California where we had a legal domestic partnership, and I was so used to being out since I was 17. But coming here in 2005 for my job was such a huge culture shock, and then I was literally THROWN back into the closet, and then chained shut and buried! LOL..... Oh well, life goes on and all that I care about is that we all support one another. Kim is going to do SO GREAT and we will soon see here on the losing side! Woo Hoo! I know that I would do it again in a heartbeat. At 408, my original doctor's goal was 220, and I thought I would NEVER get there! Well, here I am TODAY maintaining between 155 and 160, and feeling like life is good again! Have a great day! - Mike
