Here I am !! I have lost 80lbs. Since 2/14/07 and I feel WONDERFUL ! I have so much more energy and I just go go go. I am at the "hairloss" stage and am trying not to stress over it. I upped my protien and water .
God has blessed me with this surgery and I am trying to be a success story. I am very open about my surgery-especially on my job and I think its good for people to know someone who is succeeding with this surgery and not just hear the horror stories.
There is a woman on my job who is now starting her process to get approved. She weighs 518lbs.I went to a WLS seminar with her as her support person and I am happy for her.She suffers so much right now she deserves a better life.
I hope everyone is doing well. We need to get this board booming again !!

Dannielle,
I feel the same way. I'm very open as well because there are people at my job that are obese and you never know how much fear they are having around the surgery. I think to hear and see someone succeeding at the process gives them encouragement to at least research the idea. A lady at church asked me last Sunday how have I lost so much weight and I told her. Come to find out her Sister had the surgery but unfortunately had some kind of complication months after and made transition and that scared her away from having the surgery.
One young lady at work asked me the same question and I told her and she wants the name of my doctor because her Mother's physician have advised her that WLS would be great for her because of all her co-morbidities. There was another young lady standing there that is tall and obese and I noticed she walked away once I started talking about the WLS. I don't know if she's afraid of it or will continue to fight the battle of the blug on her own.
I just go tired of being overweight, born the biggest child and I'm the tallest out of 5 girls, didn't want diabetes (my 2 oldest sisters are diabetic and obese) didn't want high blood pressure (Mother -- she's about 150 --not bad for a 75 year old woman.) My partner (she is almost 4 years out) and I want a better quality of life and we're going for it.
Praise God for Maryland law that you can't be turned down.
ok it has been almost 19 months since my surgery.. I have lost 221 pounds. I am doing ok. Adjusting to the single life. Working and never home. I find that I can not sit for long. Health wise I am doing ok no issues to complain about. Not really much to say, but if you have any questions for me ask, I will answer
Take care
Erin
Erin! It's so nice to see your face! I'm happy to hear of your success. 221 lbs. is alot of weight. You should be proud.
I'm sure the adjustment has not been easy...change never is.
Glad to here that your health is ok. You say you can not sit for long....I remember when you couldn't stand for long. I'd say that is great progress.
Don't be a stranger.

I pretty much keep a running update on my blog: www.hotfat4sale.com.
I'm 23 months out from surgery. I've maintained the same weight for about the last 11 months--a first for me after any weight loss.
Life's pretty good, all in all. I leave tomorrow for two weeks in Paris to celebrate my 40th birthday. Au revoir!
I had a bad food weekend... I am obsessing that I won't get approved for surgery, I hate hate hate this 6 months supervised diet. Grumble. Fought with my sweetie, which lead to the bad food. I think I am sweating grease today...yuck, guess that's a gross visual. Sorry. I suppose I need to get this figured out before surgery as opposed to after... Ah well. It's a journey.
