Met with the Nutritionist today
Well, me and Chris took the day off today and went into Manhattan for my Nutritionist and Nurse appointments at the surgeons office.
All went well. I should have absolutely no problem doing this as a vegetarian. She gave me my pre-op and post-op plan which is very doable.
And guess what? I have my consult with the surgeon scheduled for next Friday! Can you believe it? I know I have to wait until June, but I'm psyched to get an appointment so quickly. I'm really trying to get everything in place. Oh, and that reminds me. I have to change the surgeon. Both Dr. Fielding and Dr. Ren from that office accept my insurance (I thought it was only Fielding) and since I want the RNY, they told me that Ren is the one to go with. Fine by me. She did the seminar that we went to and she was quite impressive.
Anyway, I'm very excited and feel that this is a huge step in my journey.

Hooray Rachelle!!! It's all moving forward and June is closer than you think!! I'm getting excited for you too!
There's a woman in my support group who is a vegetarian and she's a couple years out (RNY) and she has done great - sometimes has to work a little harder to get her protein in but she manages to do it just fine.
Woo hoo!!!

I know....,June is just around the corner. Considering how long I've been working towards this, waiting until June will be a walk in the park. I think after I meet with Dr. Ren, I will call my cardiologist and see if I can schedule all of my testing (hopefully for one day).
The nutritionist gave me a list of food and the protein in each of them. The cool thing is that it is broken up by food type, so I have all of my vegetarian choices on one page for me to reference. She told me if I have trouble getting in enough protein, I can always use a protein shake each day to boost the protein intake.

Woohoo!! You're gonna be a loser soon!!
I'm taking a nutrition class and there are soooooooooo many great vegetarian protein sources available that it will not be a problem for you. And they are so low in fat. I have even begun to add more vegetarian items to my diet as a result. You'll do great!!
XOXOXO,
