Lost another 5 lbs, for a total of 22.4 - now cleared for "soft foods". Had a long chat with Mom about Passover dinner (she's making it instead of my aunt, which means I can now go), and she's going to have a few things made special for me (a baked sweet potato, particularly, since I can't eat the matzo kugel). If the turkey's too dry, I'll blender it with a little gravy. Second night, Mom's best friend makes, and I already know her brisket will be more than soft and moist enough to enjoy. Also, Renee serves gefilte fish, which Mom does not, so I could always have more of that (in fact, I bought 4 jars for myself - one piece ought to make a very nice lunch!).

Sounds like things are going great for you Randy - that's always good to hear. I love my sweet potatoes - usually can only get in about 4 small pieces with my protein but they are a real treat! Keep up the good work! Steve

Wow...has it been 2 weeks already? You are doing great Randy! Sounds like you have the holiday dinner all planned out. I adore sweet potatoes. So, what does gefilte fish taste like? I was always curious. Rachelle

Gefilte fish ("stuffed" fish in German) is made from finely ground white-fleshed fish (most commonly either whitefish, pike, or a combination) with egg and matzo meal to bind it, seasoned with salt, pepper, a little sugar, onion powder and garlic powder, then made into dumplings and poached in a fish broth with carrots and onions. It's usually served with horseradish. A REALLY traditional gefilte fish would have the mixture stuffed back into the fish skin before poaching (hence "stuffed"), but since my Great-Aunt Molly got too old to do it, no one in my family makes it from scratch anymore.

Nice to see that scale moving in the DOWNWARD direction for a change, isn't it, Randy? Enjoy your Passover and have a piece of gefilte fish for me. I'm not Jewish but I always wanted to be when I was a kid. Ken

Good for you Randy I hope you enjoy your Passover as a new loser. Just remember to take small bites and chew, chew chew and chew some more. Are you going to Pensic war this year?

No, I don't do Pennsic. Went once, hated it, went home after 2 days.
