QOTD 2/14
Okay since nobody picked up the QOTD today, I'll keep it going - I suppose this should be a Love Boat question or something... but I'm just not goin there... So, you'll have to settle for...............
Do you have a favorite LGBTQ author or novel? Who? What? If not, how about your favorite novel of all time?
I pretty much love everything Augusten Burroughs has written - "Dry" might be my favorite. I also love, and have read over and over again "A Confederacy of Dunces".
Steve
I just recently read Running with Scissors. Great book.
I don't necesssary read gay authors. I like to read psychological thrillers (fave is Silence of the Lambs) as well as anything about serial killers. I've read quite a bit on Ted Bundy. I also like forensic thrillers.
While I love to read, lately, I can only find time to read the magazines that I get delivered or pick up at Whole Foods: The Advocate, Vegetarian Times, Veg News and Living Without.
LOL.....Yes, I'm a vegetarian. Chris is too. No meat in our house for 3 years now.
Living Without is a magazine about food alergies. Our nephew is very allergic to many food items, so we get a lot of good info and recipes from this mag.
Vegetarian Times is a magazine for all levels of vegetarianism
Veg News is a magazine about living as a vegan (which I can't do because I love cheese too much).
Don't be scared. Do you still love even though I'm not a carnivore?

I adore Augusten Burroughs and David Sedaris. I compulsively read everything they write from front to back and then start again.
I have been reading a lot of non fiction lately and history for some reason. Also books on string theory. It's way over my head!
I think my all time favorite book is "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I discovered it in 6th grade and it was just the right time for me. It added fuel to an already simmering love of reading (and munching on bag after bag of Doritos washed down with hostess cupcakes).
My nephew is in fourth grade and wants to read it but I am trying to hold him off of it for at least another year or so. I want him to love it as much as I do.
(God...do you think I'm a control freak or what? Does anyone wonder why I was 312 pounds? I'm going to order a copy from Amazon today and have it sent directly to his house. Why wait. We may note be here in a couple of years!)
I'm trying to live more in the moment, you see!
LGBTQ authors: Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta novels (about a medical examiner who solves mysteries; the author and the character's niece are both gay), Michael Craft's Mark Manning mysteries (about a gay newspaperman who solves mysteries)
All-time: The Lord of the Rings. (Yes, it's one novel. It was originally published in three volumes because the printing technology of the time couldn't produce a single paperback of that size.)
