We are planning our CU
Me and Chris have started to plan our Civil Union. In NJ, we can start getting licenses on Feb. 20th. We are not doing it right away. I want to have a "reception" and want to do it somewhat like a wedding. After 16 years we can finally proclaim our love in front of family and friends.
My one rule.....I need to have my WLS first! So we just started looking at the number of people and our budget, etc. This is going to be soooooooooooooo much fun.

Congratulations!!! Jen and I are planning a commitment ceremony also, August 18 of this year. I am so stressed out, about this, caterers, locations, guest list, budget - AAAAHHHH!!!! It will all be ok in the end I am sure, but getting there is making me crazy.
We have been together for 7 years now and this is the normal thing to do for normal people, but here in Twin Falls Idaho it is some sort of perverse sex ritual - if you ask the locals. When I have talked to people about using their place for our ceremony, it is all fine and well until they find out it is for a GAY WEDDING / COMMITMENT CEREMONY - oh my god!!! Then all of a sudden they have to make sure there is nothing else scheduled or there are all these extra fees or there are extra fees for the amount of people I want. It is such bull****!!!
Ok enough venting... Sorry about that...
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR UPCOMMING CEREMONY YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!
Hi hun,
I don't think we'll run into much discrimination here...we are considered part of the Tri-State area. We are so close to NYC that is seems we are an extension of it sometimes.
I know what you mean about all the stresses. I've already started the list, looking for halls, figuring out a budget.
My biggest fear is that we will go through all of the leg work to put this together and no one will want to come (you never know how family will react).
Keep me posted on your Committment Ceremony.

Thanks for all the congrats everyone! I am excited, even though it'll be awhile before it actually happens. I'm thinking while I'm home recovering from WLS that I will hopefully have, I can plan away.
Steve, I think that's a great idea. I didn't even think of that. Time to dig into my resources and find someone in the city.
