CAM, AND PURPLE PASSION I HOPE THAT IT IS OKAY THAT I POST THE QOTD... HAD THIS QUESTION ON MY MIND. WLS has been a major change in our lives. 1.Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? Here are my answers. 1.Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. My co-workers started treating me differently, one co worker actually told me so you decided to take the easy way out. She said why don't you just go on a diet.( Mind you i have been on about 100 diet my whole life). She has no clue of what my life was like being almost 450 Pounds. I also found out that a coworker pulled up my profile from obesityhelp and was showing it to other coworker and made a big joke of it. The way I handled it was to stop talking to all of them except for a selective few that told me what was going on. I don't care what people say about me. So they can all kiss my new small behind LOL. 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? Yep just the coworkers , and i could care less. As long as i have my partner and our kids and my very supportive family i am happy. 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? My partner has been there through everything, all the appeals, all the denials, helping me get dressed every morning, helping me bath and shower. I love her with all my hearts. She put me on her insurance so WLS would be possible I will alway cherish her for that. Your turn.

Good questions! I was thinking of posting a similar question earlier today. 1. Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. My sister, who is obese, and some of my friends who are obese, act like I never had WLS. They don't comment on my weight loss, and they never asked how I was doing/feeling during my recovery from surgery. My coworkers and not so obese friends feel the need to tell me how beautiful I look now, which annoys the hell out of me. I was cute even when I weighed 300 lbs! 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? I have a close friend who is super obese. She has lost 100 lbs. going to Weigh****chers, but she is still about 350 lbs. She avoids me now and won't return my phone calls. 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? My partner and spouse. She supported my decision 100%, although she was afraid.

1.Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. I have to say that for the most part, I have not experienced anyone who has treated m poorly since having the surgery. Every person I talk to has been very excited and interested in the surgery. I feel as if I am a walking billboard for Dr White's office soemtimes. Not a bad thing really. I love answering questions about it. No one has treated me badly, and as a matter of fact, I have been receiving better treatment from strangers. It is nice to go somewhere and not have a bunch of people staring. 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? Yes. I had a friend who I have known for many years (since 1985 or so) and he called me about three or four weeks after my surgery. I didn't tell him before hand that I was having surgery. When I told him, he said, "Oh, that's nice. Well, I gotta go." haven't heard from him since. That's okay. I really don't need anyone in my life who isn't supportive. 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? Of course, my partner, Erin is the most supportive. I wouldn't have been able to do it without her. My parents are now very supportive. They weren't at first, because they were worried. But now they are always telling me how proud of me they are.

Hey Sherry.. Here are my answers! 1.Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. ~ My "best" friend always has comments about my weight loss. " Your head looks bigger" " I hope you don't loose anymore weight" " OMG, your hair really did fall out". Everyone always comments on how good I look but I have not had one single compliment from him! 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? ~ Not yet but I see it coming with my "best" friend 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? ~ My partner, Stephanie. She has been there for me from the beginning and still there for me now. She is super proud of me! That's why I love her soo much!

1.Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. Yes and no. The yes part is part of #2. Otherwise I think it's too soon to have gotten a lot of reaction. I do know from several years back when I lost 200 lbs. how different people in general treated me so I guess I'm expecting it at this point. 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? Yep. I've lost some FWBs (Friends with Benefits). I've been connected to the Bear and Chub/Chaser communities for a long time. As a result had some relationships with guys who liked me just the way I was. A couple aren't happy I decided to have surgery. They have already started drawing away. I'm okay with that cause I know I"m going to be happier and healthier - and there will be a different group of guys out there for me to pursue. 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? One of my best friends was there for me every step of the way. I also had several collegues that were very supportive and helpful in the process. Steve

Hell yes it is ok, I think everyone should take turns! Of course it was Purple Passion's brain child... Sorry for my tardiness in answering, I have been out of pocket for a few days due to work! 1.Since surgery has there been anyone who has treated you differently since surgery or before surgery, if yes please tell. ** Honestly, my heavier friends are the ones who were least supportive, both before and after. I caught grief from them like Oprah did for loosing weight. 2. Have you lost any friends or associates because you had WLS? ** I don't think I have lost any friends, but I do get treated differently by some, see q. 1. 3. Who is the most supportive person in your life, that accepted that you decided to have WLS? ** My best friend Suz was the most supportive. I couldn't have made it through all of this without her. She had the surgery a year before me and knew all the questions to ask, the types of things I should and should not do etc...
