Hello there family... Here is today's QOTD... What is the craziest diet you ever tried when attempting to loose weight? (Pre Op, hopefully as those of us who are post op better be taking care of ourselves) *** *** *** I would have to say the Vegitarian Diet. I dated a girl once (yes a girl, this was years ago) who was a vegitarian. She kept telling me that had I noticed Vegitarians are all skinny. Well I know now (thanks to Oprah and Dr. Phil) that simply isn't true, but anyway. I spent about six months eating nothing but veggies and grains. I tried to avoid any animal byproducts as well such as milk and cheese. Then one day I woke up in a cold sweat and said out loud, "If I don't get a cheeseburger right now, someone might have to die." Of course it made me violently ill but it was the best cheeseburger ever. Let me say that I am not against vegitarian diets, but I always responded better to protien diets like Atkins. I could ALWAYS easily get myself down to 275 on Atkins without blinking... It was getting below 275 that was always a problem. Thank you to Dr. Strickland, Riverside Surgical Associates, and all the wonderful people at Lexington Medical Center who made it possible to get down to 227... My goal is to be 199 by January 1st, 2007.

Hmmmm, years and years ago I did that grapefruit diet thing. I don't recall that anything much happened at all. Of course, in those days I was probably adding shots of vodka to the grapefruit juice and expecting the same results. Now that's craziness! Steve

The next bad diet would be Phen Phen pills, and now I have mitral regurgation. I am so happy that I had WLS

Way back when I was 15 or 16 years old (were talking the stone age here) I was on a diet with my mom where we had to eat a cup of pickled beets every day. If you could get those down, then you were allowed to eat a half a cantalope with a small scoop of ice cream in it for dessert. Strange diet indeed. I hated pickled beets. But after a few weeks, I learned to love pickled beets. Still do. That was the only benefit I got out of the diet cause I sure didn't lose any weight.
