I feel like I know you guys so much better since starting the QOTD. I guess I'll continue until it fades away. I love stuff like this. I love to participate in fundraising/charity walks. I've done them for American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen, etc. If I can, I do it. I'm currently raising money for a walk to raise money for Allergy Awareness. What do you like to do that falls into the fundraising/charity department? Rachelle

The only thing that I do that may fall into this department is that I volunteer at a library. I would love to be able to do some charity walks at some point, but my knees will not allow me to do so. Take care Erin

Well, being that I have a daughter in public school and Brownies, I am involved in some kind of fund raiser or another for PTA or Girl Scouts all the time. I wish that they would find some other way to raise money withour sales. I always feel like such a leech, asking my friends and family to buy stuff. But the money goes directly to fund activities for the school or scouting, so what are you gonna do?? XOXOXO, Sharyn

I work for an LGBTQQI non-profit organization as the clinical manager for substance abuse services and HIV mental health services. An integral component frequently involves fundraising to be able to provide the services we do. Also, working for a non-profit, in itself, pretty much falls into "charitable" in my book.

I guess the only thing I do that could be considered remotely in this category is that I participate in a medieval recreation group which is a non-profit organization because we do a lot of education programs for schools and such. We go into schools and teach kids about life in the middle ages.

I love to hear about all the things you guys too. However you volunteer your time is applaudable. I think that alot of people are too busy to help out at all. On that note, I'm going to post a shameless solicitation for the Allergy Walk. Rachelle

The only fundraising I have helped with was when my son sales Pizza from school. I also have given to the special olympics.

What do you like to do that falls into the fundraising/charity department? My favorite charity event is Dining with Friends. It sponsers Low Country AIDS Services. Everyone hosts parties where people come to your house and you have a big ole gay (or themed) dinner party. Then at 9 all the dinner parties meet at the Maritime Center downtown for desserts and champaigne... Sadly they did not have much for the GB paitent, but in a small/medium sized town like Charleston it is nice to see 2000 gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgenered/friends in one place for a common cause.
