Carb question
I'm post op 2 1/2 years now and need a little guidance. How many carbs do y'all eat on a daily basis? I've not been paying attention lately and my scales told me the other day I've gained about 10 lbs. I've not been keeping track of my carb intake and I can't find all the paperwork I had prior to surgery. And yes......I've been snacking on what I thought was healthy snacks, but guess the carb count was too high.
I want to get this under control before it gets out of hand. I realize each surgeon has their own routine, but mine left town and I've not been in to see the "new kid" on the block yet.
Thanks!
Vicki
I'm 22 months post-op and I don't really have any hard and fast "rules" from my surgeon/nut, either. I do post what I eat and drink on fitday.com, as well as all my supplements. That way I can track exactly what goes into my mouth. It's time consuming, but when I get on the scale I know where the changes come from. It's just been in the last month that I've become so diligent about what I eat. I'm getting close to my 2 year anniversary and fear weight gain so I wanted to be proactive, before any weight gain. I've been at goal for about 9 months, now. I fluctuate ~5 lbs during the month. I don't worry about that, because I know it's related to my cycle, but I want to ward off true weight gain.
I looked back at my fitday records and I average ~100 grams of carbs/day. I don't know it that's too much, but I get in about 75-100 grams of protein and I hardly ever eat breads, pasta, rice, etc. So I know that most of my carbs come from veggies and stuff.
This is a long reply and I'm not even sure if I've answered your question. I think the most important thing to remember is protein first, followed by veggies and complex carbs.
