Hey family. How is everyones Thursday morning going?? Mine, well considering I have been up and down all night with my eight year old I am doing ok. Her allergies have been really bad this spring. Her school nurse called me at work yesterday and said she had been in several times saying that her throat was hurting. I called her doctors office and asked if they could see her. I left work, went to her school and picked her up. We got to the doctors office, her eyes were running, her nose was like a water fountain, and her cough was horrific. We waited for the nurse to call us back. ( I found out my daughter is 4'9 and weighs about 82lbs) I explained to the nurse what was going on and the doctor came in to see us. He did his assesment of her and also did a strep test. The strep test came back negative (thank goodness). The doctor said that he thought her allergies were just in overtime. He gave her a new allergy medicine, and also gave her codiclear (sp) for her cough. I thought when he said codiclear (sp) that was a bit strong for her, be he insisted she would be ok. We left there and went to the pharmacy. Came home and I gave her the allegra, and went back out for a couple of hours. When we finally got home for the night, she took a bath and then I gave her the codiclear (sp). She fell asleep on the couch and when I went to put her to bed, she started throwing up. I got her all cleanned up and changed her bed. Finally, she was back to sleep. Until about 3am. She woke up very upset saying that everyone was attacking her. She wanted to get in the bed with me. Instead we went into the living room, where she again started to throw up. She was back to sleep about an hour later. Then up again. Its been a long day. I called the doctors office and am waiting for him to call me back. I know some of us have children, I am wondering if anyone has given their child codiclear (sp) and if thier reactions where anything like my daughters. Sorry this was so long. Melissa

Melissa, http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/rxlist.cgi?drug=codiclear I'm sure by now you do not need this information, but I just got home from work and it is 12:15am and I saw your post. The medicine you are talking about is CodiCLEAR DH Oral and it is a combination Guaifenesin and Hydrocodone. Now her throwing up could be because of her postnasal drip and the tickle in the throat that is hard to make stop or it could be she is allergic to hydrocodone, but with your description of her waking up saying that everyone is attacking her would indicate to me that the hydrocodone was not interacting well with her physiology. Also, if you find that the Allegra is not really working all that well on her allergies, I would suggest asking her doctor about Singulair. From what I have heard it is a bit expensive and some of the insurance companies have a hard time approving it, but I have also heard that for allergies it is the best thing on the market. Of course, everyone will have their own opinion and I'm just giving you mine. I hope this is helpful! Thanks for responding to my other post. I have tried to get back and answer everyone and I hope no one gets upset at me...I have just been very busy (as usual). Take care, Andrea
