Hello,

I wanted to let everyone know that I have decided on a date, time and location for the first Living life support group meeting.  The support group will be 6/16/12 at the Rockmart Public Library in the meeting room from 12 noon till 1 PM.  Feel free to come as your are with opinions, ideas, and questions.  Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy being around people who have had WLS or who is planning to have surgery.  This group will rotate locations and activities so that people from different areas can attend and not have to always travel a long distance.  My plan is to have a meeting for month of June and for month of July plan a group activity based on what group want to do to celebrate WLS journey.  Some ideas that I have include, bowling, walking for a cost, skating, and dance classes.  Feel free to contact me anytime at 770-334-5638.  Address is 316 North Piedmont Avenue Building 201 Rockmart/ Georgia 30153.

Dr. Kevin Webster in Carrollton is a family physician who is weight loss surgery friendly (he is not a surgeon). Last time I went there he had signs in his office promoting WLS, and he also wrote my letter of recommendation that helped qualify me for surgery. I have not been to him post-op because he is not on my insurance, but if he was I'd definitely go to him.

 I had posted earlier that I was considering starting a support group.  I now know that I want to start a group and first meeting be 6-16-2012.  I  would like to know if people would prefer for first meeting to be at a library, restaurant, or activity such as bowling etc.  I want to make sure that I am meeting everyone needs so I will rotate locations, and activities.  I will like to every other month do a group activity to celebrate our weight loss.

I would recommend Joseph Woods, M.D.  He is chief of plastics at Piedmont and also operates at DeKalb Medical Center.  He is a verygifted plastic surgeon.  I have not had post op plastics but he did all of my breast reconstruction following cancer.  His number is 404-292-4223.  Very skilled, kind, patient and a credit to the medical profession.

Usually the only post WLS the companies will pay for is removal of the pannus and breast reduction.  The chances of getting approved for anything else are slim.  I think the arms run in the neighborhood of $6-7k.
