Hi everyone, I just found out that my insurance covers WLS, i was wondering if anyone else has dealt with Aetna MC in GA? All comments are welcomed, I just called to start my paperwork process with Dr. micheal Williams. I 've been trying to have this surgery for the past 2 yrs. and I finally got an insurance company that approves it ..... you just don't understand how happy I am right just for that!! Thanks in advance for your help!! Connie

So did you have problems with your insurance company, what did you do first? I will start filling out my packet from the Dr's office this weekend if it comes tomorrow. I'm so excited but i'm a little nervous at the same time, i've wanted this for so long and now that it may actually happen is just....oh well i'm sure you know the feeling. Congratulations on your weight loss, i can't imagine saying that i've lost 72lbs. that just seems surreal to me....thanks so much for responding to my message. Oh yeah I meant to ask who performed your surgery?

Connie, Just wanted to let you know, that you picked a great surgeon...Dr Williams did my surgery!!! I just found out the other day that he is Chief of Surgery at Emory Dunwoody Medical...they have a great Bariatric Wing!!! A few weeks ago, I had to have emergency surgery to remove scar tissue from my WLS...Dr Champion was 'on call' the afternoon that I was having severe pain...he came by the ER to see me, and explained to me what tests that would be running to determine the problem (partially blocked bowel obstruction...was admitted to hospital that night about 1030), and then the next morning he came by to see me again...and explained that I would be having surgery that afternoon. Anyway, Dr Williams did my surgery that afternoon, and I was at home by 1200 the next day. While I was in the hospital, they put me on the Bariatric Wing, and some of the nurses remembered me from when I had the WLS surgery...they are so great there... Good luck!!! Norma

I have Aetna POS and I was denied the first go around but approved on appeal. Make sure you go to their web site and look up exactly what they require. If you do everything to a tee and your doctors have really good documentation then you will get approved. Best of luck.

I have met Dr. Williams and he is sooooo cool! Real laid back I wished he was in my ins I would have him do my surgery, I hear that he is a hand holder you can just tell that he really does care. Dr. Williams does the surgery @ North Fulton as well. I suggest that you go to North fulton bariactrics and speak to Virginia Rock or Kim ( I can never remeber Kims last name) But anyhoo you can call the hospital and ask to be transfered to the bariactris center and then talk to them and get the ball rolling. They will hellp you through the entire thing. Virginia is also 5 yrs RNY patient she is also on here. Look her up Virginia Rock. She has lost 244 lbs and look GREAT!!!!!!!! So can you honey please don't give up. Jamie Wilson
