I am another one who can usually drink anything... However... Beer is not too good for us.... think of the carbonation.... My suggestion is what a friend of mine does... She takes a couple of Crystal Light Lemonade individual packets with her when she goes out, and uses that with the tequila for margaritas... you still get the sugars from the alcohols, but not as much as you would if you start adding sugary juices to it. I cannot drink regular juices myself. And if you are going to a bar, I doubt they will have no sugar added juices. My first experience with drinking after my WLS was that after 3-4 sips of my first drink I was seriously buzzing.... By the time I was finished with my first drink I had already felt like I was sobering up. I was really kinda disappointed. To cure that, I had another drink.... same thing all over again. I find that sometimes if I haven't had a drink in awhile, I will get buzzed easily, if I happen to drink 2 weekends in a row (which is very rare for me) the 2nd weekend I won't get buzzed at all. I haven't really figured this out yet. The other thing I have noticed since WLS is that I get horrible headaches while drinking. I have learned to take a couple of tylenol before I start drinking, and then for some weird reason I don't get the headaches. I still don't get hangovers.... Have fun, and enjoy your husbands homecoming... I remember how wonderful they were when I was married.... Hugs, Susan

I didn't even think of the carbonation! That always kills me! Dang.... My favorite drinks were Cosmo's and one that I know I will get booted out of this site for saying, lol But the last part of it was "me good" hahahaha I loved that drink, but it was full of sugary juices. I think I will just sip on whatever my husband has, that way if I don't like it, I wont be stuck with it! hahahahaha Hugs!!!!

how did I miss this post? well, better late than never.... I think it's trial and error... I used to be able to do vodka, brandy, and tequila with no problems even straight up... now....oh, No-oo-o-oo-oui... sharp pain that has me doubled(sp?) over in a matter of seconds not worth it.... But I'm ok now with white wines and beer.....those are my two recent favorites....no more Long Island Tea or Sex on the Beach for me..... he-he-he Good thing is that it's very easy and fast buzz now even if it's Risling,Bud Light or Amstel Light. Have fun, Kimmy hugs, Rita

RITA RITA RITA!!!! How are you doing sweet lady???? One of these days we will get to meet! I guess I will just have to do the trial and error system. I just don't want to get sick, lol That would NOT BE GOOD, hahahaha Hubby wouldn't appreciate that! I am not looking to get drunk, I just want to have a good time with my baby! Its been so long since we went out. It will be nice to be around other adults for a change. Even these folks at my office are like my kids! You take care! Hugsss!!!!!!!!

I discovered Watermelon & Apple Martinis and do very well with splash of sugar from the pucker. I was a HUGE beer drinker I tried about 4 months out drinking a 1/3 of a Corona and thought I was going to die. To date that has been my worst experience. So Martinis & Wine are my new drinks of choice.
