My husband will be coming home soon and I want to go out to celebrate. I was thinking about having a drink , but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what I can drink? I am still very sensitive to sugars so I have NO IDEA to what mixed drinks I will be ok with. Anyone have any suggestions??? I don't want to over do it, but I would like to have a little fun too! Thanks! Kimberly

Kimberly, I know that you cant wait for him to get back home...The one drink that I have heard that we should try to avoid is Margaritas...the mix has way too much sugar in it...the other thing, is that we should definitely not be Drinking and driving...besides the usual stuff about that, but that you get a 'buzz' way to easy with having had the surgery... One night I did go out and yes, I was driving...had spiced rum & diet coke, quit drinking at about 915, and was still feeling it at 1115, but not as strong as before...but thank goodness I did not get stopped by Mr. Blue Lights!!! Just be careful...but have a good time!!! Norma

No worries on the driving! I am a huge advocate of not drinking and driving. I remember my surgeon saying that we can have a small glass (extremely small, like 2 or 3 sips) of wine with dinner after 3 months, just do not over do it. I am 7 months out now. I have heard some wls patients being able to drink like a fish. lol I know the risk of alcohol poisioning, but 2 or 3 sips can't hurt that bad can it? I am not looking to get drunk, lol Just want to enjoy and celebrate a little Thanks!

lets see ...I think the first thing i had was a vodka and cranberry ...But the best thing would be something wiht a juice that you can deal with ...And then mix something with that ...Granted i can drink anythng ..NOT GOOD ...But i would stick with juice and something ...Or wine if you can tolerate that ...I know a few of us do wine Laura

Cool! I was scared of the juice, but I guess if its diluted with something, it will be alright. I am just nervous, don't want to get sick the 1st night my husband and I get to go out! That wouldnt be a good thing! Thanks for the info! Hugs! Kim

Michelle, 1st I have to tell you, you look SO MUCH like my baby sister! You are BEAUTIFUL! Keep up the great work! I think I might stick with beer. I can always just sip on my husbands drinks. That way if I do not like it, he can have it! lol Thanks for your input! Hugs! Kim

I am able to drink white zinfindel ok. I tried a shot of 1800 several months after surgery and it practically KILLED me immediately. So IF I drink..I have white zin.

Wine always gave me a headache before, so I have been scared to try it. I guess I will figure something out. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Hugs! Kim
